As much as I like watching this team on offense, and as talented as they are, is it time to start worrying about them even making the NCAA Tournament.  They're now 16-7 overall, 2-5 in Quad 1.  In their last 8 games, they'll certainly be underdogs at Auburn and at Tennessee.  The game at Mississippi State is looking like a toss-up at this point and at LSU will be no sure thing.  The home games are Alabama, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and Arkansas.  That could realistically be a 4-4 (or worse) finish. I think a 20-11 record, and 6-8 down the stretch, could be on the outside looking in for a tournament birth barring a run in the SEC Tournament.

By the second? They’ve been thinned out since we lost to Evansville at home in 2019-2020. Cal flat out cannot coach in a tight game. He just can’t. It does come down to execution but the common denominator the last 10 seasons is what?

What would the game today have looked like without Sheppard on the floor?

I just watched the Kansas and Baylor play. Kansas was up 3 with :14 seconds to play come down do not foul a player leaves his man on a Baylor on a drive for 2 and leaves his man for a wide open 3 he misses. They foul with just under 4 seconds to play. Kansas misses the FT and they let Baylor dribble the length of the floor for another wide open 3 and they miss and Kansas wins by 3.

Sheppard does have some terrible passing habits. If he didn’t take chances on passes he would be fine. Overall his game is a B+. Question I have is, I’ve heard he was so good at North Laurel but they guys he played with were not so good so that kind of held him back. If he played with guys with his same skill set and mentality where would he be as a player this year? I think he’s a 2 year player unless a team says they’ll draft him in the first round based on potential.

And today Mark Few fouled up 3 when Kentucky came down the floor. Self is a very good coach but that was stupid two possessions in a row.

First, no one is calling for Sheppard not to play.  But he has a lot of deficiencies too, and that's fine.  The idea that he's Blue Jesus is silly, but a lot of you make him out to be just that.

Secondly, he was atrocious in the first half (0 points, 2 assists, 2 turnovers), which contributed to us being down double figures at halftime.  

He was the catalyst in the second half, awful in the first.  Your question could be asked both ways.

I'm not saying he shouldn't play. I was very happy he started looking for his shot and being aggressive in the 2nd half. Just want him to cut down on the just unforced/careless turnovers and keep working hard on not ball watching on D (which he's been a lot better the last couple games).

I agree 100% what Few did is totally correct. It is ironic on college game day today they relived the game tying 3 in the national championship game vs Memphis in 2008. Anyone remember who the Memphis coach was that elected not to foul before the made shot with :2.1 left in the game? ?‍♂️
