Funding for turf?

Featured Replies

No, they come with the lines/hashes/numbers/markings all sewn in with white turf. They are permanent.

So, what do you do for soccer games?

So, what do you do for soccer games?

The field at Trinity has the soccer lines on the field. It looks fine.

You can have those sewn in also, I think they use yellow for contrast. Actually what they do is shave the fibers off the turf in the pattern where the new lines go and then glue down a piece cut to fit in that shaved off area. This maintains the integrity of the main "carpet" backing and you can't tell the difference on the surface. They did this at Belfry for the hashes, numbers, etc. But each yard line was a separate piece sewn into the main carpet.

Belfry's doesn't have them, but they have a separate soccer field, so the football field is used only as needed.

When they held the district tourney last year, they used a temporary paint, one that washes away with water, to outline the soccer lines. Then when the tourney was over, they hosed it off.

Personnally I really don't like the soccer lines on a football field. I think it is terribly distracting.

For the schools that got the funding from the Board of Ed, does anybody know what funds they were pulled from? Was it grounds and building fund? Once again you can PM me if you would rather do that.

My next door neighbor actually sells Sprint Turf, which I believe is what he put in at Highlands. The price varies greatly with the amount of midfield or endzone art that you want. Also it will depend on how much non-playing field area you want to cover. He did say however that they can finance it the field for a school if they want to go with the new Sprint Turf, which by the way I heard it is great.

It would be my guess that Booster BINGO could pay for your field in a very short time frame. Well that is if you are running it legit.

If I ever hit the Powerball  all three local schools will get turf fields. :ylsuper:

I think Highlands put in the same turf as Beechwood, which is called Field Turf from a company out of Canada.

Highlands, Beechwood, Lexington Catholic, Belfry, and Shelby Valley all have Field Turf. This is the same surface that is on Papa Johns Stadium.

I know Pikeville has SprinTurf and I think Letcher Central has that.

Newport use a company named Sprint Turf. It is all rubber and not sand and rubber mixed. The field is very soft.

Just telling the way it is in Ft Thomas. Football Team plays at the High School and the Soccer Team Plays at Tower Park. The Soccer Team use to play some night games at Highlands before the turf was put in. Putting soccer lines at Highlands in the Field Turf wasn't even an option. It wasn't going to happen during Football Season.

And the most recent state championships at HHS have come from what sport??
