I just saw that it looks like that Sonny Gray is going to be signed by the Cardinals.

Some decent moves.   What they really need is for Hunter Greene to devlop into what they think he can be.  That and a healthy Lodolo and the pitching solidifies, a lot.

  • Citing a pitchers record is so irrelevant when it comes to a pitchers stats.  Sonny had a 2.79 era compared to Castillo's 3.34 era.  Give me the pitcher giving up less runs every single time.  Whether

Hope he gets his chance. Based on everything I've seen, he deserves one.

Cardinals are picking up pitching left and right.   And the Reds....Well, they are considering kicking the tires on Shane Bieber, who spent part of last season on the IL with arm issues.   This team doesn't hit consistently enough to win every game 12-10.

I mean is simply adding pitching enough? They haven't added a ton as far as quality pitching. They added Sonny Gray, who will likely be their #1 and he had a couple of stints on the IL last year too. I'm all about them adding quality, not simply adding pitching. I'm certainly not for them signing a guy for 80m (up to 100m) that has proven back issues.

Reds add two decent pieces that will address their greatest need and it’s radio silence… I get it now.. we only post when it’s time to complain.

Signing out.

It just broke at 2am that they signed Martinez.  Not much earlier the other deal with Pagan.  Lighten up Frances.

Why didn't you just post the info? I still don't know who they signed if you want to let us know now.

Come on VOR, surely you have your alert on your phone set to Reds winter meeting free agency updates. 2am you're bright eyed and giving the dog a high five.

Sonny Gray as a #1 tells you all you need to know about the Cardinals.  Their pitching was horrible last year and they have to make moves.  Gray is just slightly over .500 for his career and should really be a #3 starter.

The Reds have 7 -8 young pitchers on their roster who project to be quality starters.  They might add someone if it makes sense financially, but they aren't in the position the Cardinals are.

The complaining about losing out to the Cardinals makes no sense.

I have little faith that Greene is that guy. I pray I’m wrong.

I hope he is too.   If not, they are shopping for an arm or 2 at the all-star break.

Bud, he just finished 2nd in the Cy Young. If he's your #3 starter then who are you rolling out as a #1 and #2?

Yeah curious vote totals.  There were several guys who I thought had better years including Luis Castillo.  Gray had a good ERA and WHIP but an 8-8 record.  I would want more from an ace than .500.  I'm glad that the Reds didn't spend that much money for him.

Citing a pitchers record is so irrelevant when it comes to a pitchers stats.  Sonny had a 2.79 era compared to Castillo's 3.34 era.  Give me the pitcher giving up less runs every single time.  Whether he gets the win or not has more to do with the team around him than anything else.

For the record, I told LRCW back in July I'd love to have Sonny Gray back.  Still would.  Feel the same way about psycho Bauer.
