Manual 37 Saint Xavier 36

X had plenty of chances to win... like forcing a fumble and recovering it with 20 seconds left!

This has every appearance of an integrity of the game issue. And it wasn't a single bad call by this guy which makes it wreak.

  • You all did not let him finish.  I am sure he was going for this...

Not embedding for some reason, but that's a slow-mo of the "not fumble".  Brutally bad call.

First rule of football officiating: see the ball.

X made mistakes that should have prevented the loss but this was the most one sided poorly officiated game I have ever seen.

How from any angle in the stadium could that fumble be ruled as down? The running back was standing up all by himself.

The same official who made the just plain awful call on the fumble made one sided bad calls all night or odd errors that effected the game to Manual's favor. He  had an inadvertent whistle that stopped play right as  X snapped the ball on a 4th and 9 ( X converted anyway after the play was reset).  And called the excessive celebration call when X scored with 33 seconds left giving Manual 15 on the penalty.  ( High school kids shouldn't get excited about touchdowns in the ;last minute should they) And the same official delayed play  several times for reasons no one could understand when Manual happened to need a time out. It didn't appear to be "mistakes".

The fumble  wasn't even a close call. If the KHSAA doesn't want people to question official's integrity or competence that guy needs to be retired.

Calls are missed In real time every game. Without the advantage of replay this stuff happens. KHSAA.org has the link to sign up to become an official of any sport the state sanctions. Always need more, come aboard you won’t regret it.

If you think that call needed a replay I think you are asking for a pretty low bar. And 1 or 2 bad calls are errors, 7 to 10 by the same guy in one game is a pattern.

Another thing that I think ended up hurting St. X was on kickoff with around 30 seconds left instead of kicking it away they squibbed it to prevent a return but gave Manual good field position.

Agreed, if you going to beat I'm not giving your half the field...Hell if anything kick the ball out of bounds and Manual get the ball on the 35

Real nice job on your recap and updates.

Made me feel as if I was there.

Sorry about the outcome.

The official who made that call was blocked from seeing the ball because he was behind the ball carrier.

Still that looks like a fumble to me.

Congratulations Manual!

I’ve always heard good teams won’t allow an official to decide the game.

I'm not from Louisville and could not care less which team won. BUT, if that was not a fumble, what is?

After watching and with hindsight I'll say, Yes should have been ruled a fumble.  But on the flip side with how it played out with the ball carrier very nearly getting the ball back as he hits the ground I can see it being called possession and down, especially in real time.  I would not call it maliciously bad, but yes a missed call.

Is there a full posting / recording of the game?  With how it ended (Amazing 4th and long TD by X to take the lead late and then Manual TD as time expires to win) I would love to watch the last 5 minutes of this game.

If you are a private and playing a JCPS school in Louisville, that is every day officiating.

St. X is missing safety Sam Crum who was injured in Trinity game. He was starter on last years really good defense. I've heard he will be back before end of season because what I've seen since he's been out is that the pass defense has dropped off without him. Not sure what his timeline for return is though.

From St. X stat report. Not to often you lose when out rushing opponent 378 to 119 but gave up 317 yards passing.

Wow!

Does anyone know how many games he will get suspended for that or is that just normal behavior these days?
