Wildcats and Scotties Fight Like Cats And Dogs To Stay Unbeaten

Records: Both are 6-0

BGP Rankings: FS (#9 in 3A) | Glasgow (#10 in 3A)

Week 6 Results: FS beat Butler County | Glasgow beat Adair County

Series History: Franklin-Simpson leads 6-5 dating back to 1998

Where they've been: Thus far, both have successfully navigated the schedule, but the road has not been void of potholes. The Wildcats have survived a pair of tussles, staving off a second half rally from Allen County-Scottsville and beating Adair County by a score, the same ACS and Adair County that Glasgow has dominated. But the Scotties have endured the closest brush with defeat, edging Barren County in double overtime in a game where most thought they would roll.

Where they're going: A loss is assured for someone this week, but each side may taste a little blood. True to form over the years, Franklin-Simpson likes to 'out physical' the opposition and run the football, while Glasgow has shown the ability to control the line of scrimmage, as well. The Scotties have an edge at quarterback, with four year starter Easton Jessie appearing unflappable this season and possessing the superior arm.

The winner here clears a major hurdle toward a district championship, but a formidable - and also undefeated - Hart County waits in the wings for the Wildcats and Scotties. Suffice to say, District 2 is tops in 3A this year.

Give me Glasgow in this one, just because they're my hometown team.  Franklin Simpson is extremely tough though, so Glasgow will have to be efficient in their play calling and execution.  Class 3A district 2 is about to embark in an exciting few weeks with Glasgow, Franklin-Simpson, and Hart County all facing each other!

If you go back to 1995, this series is tied at 7-7 in those 14 games. Not sure what the all-time series record is. Glasgow and FS have played off and on for many years, they were in the old SKY conference many moons ago with Bowling Green and Russellville. I do enjoy going to watch games at Glasgow, I like the atmosphere there.

I was honestly surprised when FS won this matchup at the end of last season. My biggest concern is that Adair County was able to control the line of scrimmage when they ran against FS. The Wildcats are smallish in the line this year but they are quick. FS had a speed advantage over Adair County, but if Glasgow can control the line of scrimmage, they would have enough speed to match FS and should be able to win. Hard to pick against my team so I won’t. FS has excelled in forcing turnovers this year and have several sacks also. Should be a good game that could go either way.

Franklin-Simpson leads the all-time series 36-26-1.  With the exception of 1946, they played every year from the foundation of Franklin-Simpson through 1990.  This is the 15th meeting since then.

If Glasgow can stay away from penalties and impose their will on FS I think they will win. Unfortunately for FS what they like to do on offense is what Coach Garmon loves to do on defense which is stop the run. But it should be a good game between two teams that have been playing for a long time.

I think Glasgows size will be the X-factor in this matchup. If Glasgow can shut down FS run game it’ll be hard. I will say FS can throw the ball to keep them honest and even will run some shotgun threat which hopefully will lighten up the box. I think it’ll be a close low scoring game but I’ll go Glasgow just because of their advantage up front

FS 17

Glasgow 20

Love this game.  As @FSfan said it's the old SKY Conference foes.  Pretty cool that it's the 64th meeting!

I like Glasgow by just enough playing at home; bigger lines; and the more seasoned QB all add to a Scotties win.  But it won't be easy and I could see Franklin staying in if they could get a couple timely turnovers.  Good luck to both teams!

Will this game be streamed anywhere?

There appears to be two options:

FSHS at fan.hudl.com

and

fschannel9.com

The first link may require a subscription, but I'm not 100% sure on that. The second link was followed from the Channel 9 facebook account, where it states that they will be making the trip to Glasgow to stream the game. Hopefully one or the other works out.

fschannel9.com is free to use and usually works well if they have a good internet connection.

If you get on YouTube and look up wclu radio or The Scottie Channel it is live streamed and it looks very professional. It is a lot better than some of the other high school games I’ve seen streamed by other people. Not knocking other people I appreciate everyone who streams these games just give WCLU credit because theirs is good.
