BluegrassPreps.com Class 5A Football Rankings 9/11

Featured Replies

Class 5A

1. Bowling Green vs. 6A Central Hardin

2. Highlands at 1A #1 Raceland

3. South Warren at 6A #5 Manual

4. Scott County at 6A Madison Central

5. Woodford County vs. Pulaski County

6. Owensboro at Graves County

7. Cooper at 6A Great Crossing

8. Southwestern at 3A Mercer County

9. Greenwood vs. 4A Warren Central

10. North Laurel -- OPEN

Tough fall for Scott County after getting beat by one of the best teams in the state.

I guess it was the # of points they lost by that drops them to 4th.

South Warren should be #1. If they win this week, they definitely should be #1 next week.

I expected to see Dixie in the top 10.

To move up in rankings, you need to get wins. Two "impressive" losses for Dixie the last two weeks but that isn't going to get them into the rankings.

5A is going to have some very nice matchups in the playoffs!

While they are greatly improved and one of the better teams in this years 5A race, I would rather see them string a few wins together first. Good news for Dixie, in three weeks you get to find out early in district play where you stack up. That Highlands contest at home will be one that will truly show your growth.

I agree. From top to bottom this class is stacked. 1-4 all have a legitimate claim that they are the best team in the class. North Laurel plays such a weird brand of slow-it-down football that they will almost certainly drag some good teams into deep water. Looking outside the top 10, Dixie is a team that IMO can beat anyone if a couple balls bounce their way.

Highlands looks really good

Their QB is a problem.

Explain a little more??

Highlands QB is good, kinda reminds me of Atwell from OC. He can run and throw plus he’s big and fast. Hard to stop.

I figured Cooper would be the only challenger to Highlands in the district, now after seeing what Dixie can do and Highlands destroying the team that beat Cooper, it should make for a very intriguing match up.

Highlands schedule over the next three weeks could decide 1, 2, or 3 in their district. After Raceland they have Cooper and Dixie back to back. They have an opportunity to lock up #1, and enjoy a pretty favorable schedule going into the playoffs. With Dixie and Cooper not playing until a couple weeks later for what will most likely be 2-3. Connor could be a team that is a snake in the grass. While the other three favorites in that district duke it out, whomever plays Connor could be in for a let down game if they aren't careful. Should be a very interesting 5A district race up in NKY.
