Have to admit I was going off of last years Beechwood style of play. I don’t know much about Beechwood this year. I still think the Aces can play with just about anyone. Their quick hitting offense is hard to stop with a pretty good receiving group. The Carricos are some big boys who run hard and fly to the ball on defense. Whoever plays the aces better come ready cause Atwell is a PROBLEM. The Aces are a well oiled machine. Their only weakness is depth. The devils run game wore them down in the second half with many of the Aces impact players playing both ways (including QB Atwell who is also a stud at LB) But I imagine that’s the case for most 2A schools.

I can tell you what it’s going to be a crying shame the final 4 can’t be Mayfield, LCA, O Cath, and Beechwood because they are by far the 4 best teams in 2A. With LCA, Mayfield, and O Cath all being in the West Region only 2 will make it to the Semi’s.

@BWTigersIt really is, luckily for the Aces they won’t have to face either until the semis. So Mayfield, LCA, and Beechwood are going to have to beat up on eachother. Then the Aces will get a banged up team of whoever comes out. I like the Aces chances this year more than years in the past.

I think the big 4 in 2A would be top 10 in all classifications. 2A has to be the most interesting class in KY football this year. With 6A being close behind with no clear favorite.

That sounds like a description of Beechwood, their QB Clay Hayden and their receiving corps.

Aces vs Beechwood/LCA title game would be epic. Calpreps gives OC the slight advantage vs Beechwood winning 31 to 28 at a neutral site.

Actually, it is Beechwood that will not face one of the other 3 until the semifinals. Only 2 of the 3 out of LCA, Mayfield and Owensboro Catholic will make the semi finals. If Beechwood somehow beats Cov Cath next week, they likely will be the #1 seed and not face any of the other three till the title game.

I thought the Aces would be number 1 in RPI beating a 6A and 3 5A teams and more than likely 2 more 6A teams in North Hardin and Henderson before district play. .

Good point. You probably are right about the #1 seed if O-Cath is able to go undefeated. I would say at this point the only team that might beat O Cath is Henderson. 

@Voice of Reason I doubt Henderson will be much of a match for OC they lost even more than the Red Devils and like the Red Devils they give up a ton of points on defense. Recipe for disaster. The Aces best shot at going down during the regular season was tonight. 

OC has never beaten Mayfield, I doubt they do it this year either.....we shall see...maybe.

OC. 

Mayfield and Owensboro are similar but I don’t think Mayfield would have the defensive mistakes that Owensboro does.  Mayfield has a pretty good defense.  That would be a good game.

 

But the 3rd round is looking like Mayfield vs LCA.
