Owensboro Catholic 33 Owensboro 28

Mayfield and Owensboro are similar but I don’t think Mayfield would have the defensive mistakes that Owensboro does.  Mayfield has a pretty good defense.  That would be a good game.

But the 3rd round is looking like Mayfield vs LCA.

That's a shame, the best two teams meeting in the 3rd round. If it happens.

I’m almost sure you are wrong. In the third round the state is still split in half with LCA, OCath and Mayfield on the same side of the state. If OCath finishes #1 in RPI then they will get to play th

I like Time's version better, us playing OC in round 3.

@Voice of Reason I doubt Henderson will be much of a match for OC they lost even more than the Red Devils and like the Red Devils they give up a ton of points on defense. Recipe for disaster. The Aces best shot at going down during the regular season was tonight.

Afraid you are right DF. I think the Gleaner(Henderson paper) said that the Colonels returned five full time starters, plus a few guys that started a game or two because of injuries, from last year's team.

Going to Steele Friday hoping the Aces don't hang 60 on my high school alma martr (Class of '80). The Cols D has made every QB they've faced look like Patrick Mahomes, and Atwell is definitely NOT an average QB. The Colonels have some talent, but they are RAW. HC is well coached and does not quit, regardless of the score, so if they can limit big plays they can be competitive. Stopping big plays by OC is easier said than done. I have been to three Catholic games and they are a ɓig play machine.

I definitely wasn’t trying to bash HC as I believe they’re still a tough out. I just believe OC is that good. Like you said “they are a big play machine”… Who knows maybe the colonels can keep pace in a shoot out.

As of right now it looks like Catholic would sleep walk to the finals - then get the best out of Beechwood/LCA/Mayfield.  If didn’t score with 11 seconds left it could have been LCA, then Mayfield, then Beechwood - how important all of those plays were.  4th and 13 the final drive - clutch.  That’s the difference between 3 tough games and 1 tough game for a state championship.

Catholic will not sleep walk to the Finals. They get either LCA or Mayfield in Round 3 or LCA and Mayfield in Round 4. Basically whoever they don't play in Round 3 they are playing in Round 4.

They should have homefield advantage til Round 4. If they play Mayfield in Round 3 then they will be HOME.

Remember LCA, CATHOLIC, and MAYFIELD are in districts 1-4.

Beechwood is in Districts 5-8.

So neither LCA, Catholic, or Mayfield will see Beechwood until the State Finals. Hope this helps everyone.

OC will get beat rounds 3 or 4. Home or away, mark it down.

I’m almost sure you are wrong. In the third round the state is still split in half with LCA, OCath and Mayfield on the same side of the state. If OCath finishes #1 in RPI then they will get to play the worst team left on the west side of the state and LCA and Mayfield would play each other. Then in the final four it is ranked 1-4 statewide. OCath would be number 1 and get the worst team left and Beechwood would be matched up with the winner of the LCA-Mayfield game. Like Brown said, if OCath ends up with the highest RPI at the end of season they will have a cakewalk to the state championship while LCA and Mayfield would have to run the gauntlet to win state.

Not if they don’t have to play Mayfield, Beechwood, or LCA which will be the case if they finish #1 in RPI.

Who knows? I'm tired of everyone on here thinking "Well Beechwood will play Mayfield in Round 3, blah blah...."

Nobody knows the playoff format and when they come up with the crap. I'm just tired of looking at it.

BEECHWOOD IS NOT PLAYING MAYFIELD, LCA OR CATHOLIC IN ROUND 3. THEY ARE NOT.

Could be true. It's very messed up.

ALSO, Has the RPI come out yet? NOPE. My guess is 1. LCA 2. OCath 3. Beechwood 4. Mayfield.

So.... In Round 3 Mayfield will travel to Catholic. LCA will get District 3 winner whoever comes out.
