So far OC has played 3 5A and 1 6A. Another 6A this week and then North Hardin to end the year. So 6 games are 5A/6A.

Mayfield does the same thing. Neither team is playing the juggernauts of their classes.

I’m almost sure you are wrong. In the third round the state is still split in half with LCA, OCath and Mayfield on the same side of the state. If OCath finishes #1 in RPI then they will get to play th

I like Time's version better, us playing OC in round 3.

Once again I’m. It comparing apple to apples. It was a statement and that’s all it was meant to be

The truth of the matter is that with LCA being moved to the “west” side of the state, RPI is WAY more important than ever this year because no matter who gets the 1 seed they will not have to play any of the big 4 until they get to the state championship. Because I’m sure everyone would like to see these 4 face off in the final four and not until then but that just isn’t going to be the case.

So why is lex catholic in the east and LCA  not?  Doesn’t make sense. This has been this way for the past two years

Different classes have to draw the line in different spots based on proximity of teams and districting.

Good!

I think:

1 Owensboro Catholic

2  Beechwood

3 LCA

4 Mayfield

There are so many moving pieces on this and much more so by the end of the season. This could flip as early as next week.

Just looking at raw numbers: OC has the biggest class weight multiplier, as do their opponents and opponents opponents. Beechwood is going to take a hit early from playing McNick. LCA has the best opponents winning percentage. Mayfield has the best opponents opponents winning percentage. ?

I said in the pre-season thread, or maybe the 1st game thread, that OHS could start the year 1-5 or 2-4. The Red Devils lost a lot, and although there is talent on the roster, it was unproven. Owensboro Catholic is a well coached team, that is very fundamentally sound, but IMO I didn’t see a state championship caliber club Friday. Unless LCA,Mayfield, or Beechwood start piling up a bunch of key injuries. As far as the Red Devils go they’re going to have to seriously consider playing 2-3 kids both ways some if they want to maximize their potential in the playoffs. The secondary has been a huge problem.

I think as of now Owensboro is trying to develop all their players that's why nobody really plays both ways out side of Crowe. Similar to last year. Kenyatta Carbon was the best DB on the team but didn’t play safety pretty much all season until the playoffs. I believe we will see the same this year with Winstead and Hampton come playoffs.
