If Owensboro Catholic beats Owensboro again should 2A be on the lookout?
The Aces seems to be very dangerous and quite this early in the season with that 3-0 record with quality wins over  Apollo, Daviess County and Greenwood.

Whats your thoughts and opinions?

I think the 2A class was already served after Catholic pounded Greenwood. Beating Owensboro at Rash only supplements it.

This^

That resounding win over Greenwood was an attention getter.

I don’t think so because Mayfield, Beechwood and LCA I sure think they would dominate Owensboro and they might just as well but I’m sure they’re not worried about it. Now if Catholic puts a running clock on them or something I’m sure that would get some attention.

I'm not sure a running clock vs. Owensboro is necessary after the Greenwood win. I think they've "arrived," and a good win Friday solidifies their position.

There is beginning to be enough data in the CalPreps algorithm to start sifting and predicting. They have the Aces as the #2 team in 2A today and project them to beat Owensboro in the same neighborhood CAL did (28-14).

With the schedule OC is playing, they're going to harvest some RPI benefits too. I could see them winning out in the regular season. They're going to be hosting playoff games at KWC; maybe through the semis?

Sheeeesssh can't remember the last time the Red Devils were underdogs against the Aces at Rash. If this doesn’t fire up the Red Devils I don’t know what will.

Owensboro and Mayfield scrimmaged with pretty much everybody on both sides of the ball for Owensboro getting their first ever varsity snaps and it ended in a 3-3 tie. I doubt mayfield dominates Owensboro in a game at this point.

I think Ocath should be #2 in 2A NOW.  Beechwood went to OT to win by 1, Mayfield beaten.  Catholic blasts a top 10 5A team.

Catholic is a very experienced team, which is why they are hitting on all cylinders.  Owensboro I a very inexperienced team which us why they’ve started slow in both big matchups.  By end of the season they have a chance to be very good.

I didn’t say Mayfield would dominate Owensboro what I was saying was they’re are not scared of anyone and I don’t think OC simply winning the game would intimidate anyone but if they were to running clock Owensboro I’m sure that would open some eyes.

In my eyes OCath has done nothing but wow everyone and prove themselves more and more since week 1. They are a great team no doubt. Probably the 2nd most impressive team in 2A thus far. I would still say that LCA is the most talented team in 2A by a margin. Then it’s Mayfield, then Beechwood then OCath. I say that on the presence of talent alone. Now how each team coaches and game plans and uses the talent they have from here on out is up to the programs. ANY of the top 4 can beat the other on any given night at this point and I don’t think that changes up until the final four regardless of any outcomes of games from here until Thanksgiving.

Catholic beat a much better Owensboro team last year and went about where they have historically gone in the playoffs(3rd rnd). I think the Aces are the same caliber team this year. They could beat Owensboro again and not advance past the 3rd rnd of the 2A playoffs because of the potential match up with Mayfield,LCA,or Beechwood.

IMO, with the sophisicated passing game of OC and their 6'4" QB running it and what's out there on film of Mayfield pass defense and lack of offensive creation on ultilizing their weapons which makes their offense look like its not clicking on all cylinders as compared to last year, they may need to take the most notice...

It's all about matchups, Mayfield won't face anybody as fast as the Carter kid for PT. Mayfield matches up very well with all the teams in 2A except possibly LCA.

It's not that 1 man on PT beat Mayfield but its how they used that 1 man and getting him out in space...LCA and OC imo are much better passing teams than PT... MAYFIELD faithful has to be concerned that teams are attacking one side of their pass defense with success ie Graves County and now PT and they've not made any adjustments. OC and LCA may not have that one athlete like PT but their passing schemes are off the charts and they'll try and exploit what other teams have done with success. Right now Mayfield does have to do better getting JuJu off and running and getting their athletes the ball more in space. So yes of the top 4 especially if OC dominates this game (RIGHT NOW) Mayfield has the most work to do and should have the most concern. But if you think it's about having that 1 athlete that the other teams don't have. The semi finals is your ceiling this year.
