Around the 9:30 mark in the video shows the play. I missed the facemask when watching last night as I was looking at the extension to see if he was down.

I may be blind but I miss a face mask in the video too. After watching from that angle, I definitely see how the officials make that call. True relay review may overturn it but from what I see it seems right to me.

I think the facemask is clear in the video. When I watched last night, I was looking at the body and ground and didn’t even pay attention to the head. Just saw another video of an official standing right over top of the play who had to have seen it as he wasn’t obstructed.

Just rewatched and I see it clear now too.

1. Nothing on that video shows Gregg reached the goal line with the ball. In the freeze frame with him stretching the ball out, we cannot tell from the angle if the ball is over the goal line. Based on where Gregg landed at the end of the play with the nose of the ball just over the goal line, I think the official looking right down the line got it right. He did not make it in.

2. Add me to the list. I did not see the facemask. I was watching the ball, the knee, the goal line, etc. When the facemask was mentioned I watched the video again and yes, there was definitely a facemask on the tackle. We all missed it till we watched the video multiple times so hard to blame officials for not seeing it in the middle of that pack of players.

Dixie is definitely much improved. They have some excellent players. Rice is a stud. Only weakness in his game is someone needs to teach him how to shake hands.  QB Gregg is an excellent run

On another topic, from the game thread. Can we please put the term flat in the trash and throw it out once and for all? It is almost never an accurate description of what is happening in a game.

Thank you for that video. That was basically 4th and goal from the 30 for Beechwood. That play was preceded by one of those lack of discipline penalties on Dixie. That penalty got Beechwood 10 yards closer and helped make the TD play happen.

Agree on all of this. Had to rewatch the video 4 total times to see the face mask. I don’t think he scored either.

I am thinking if there was no facemask he would have been in.

So in essence lack of discipline did Dixie in again? Sorry for the rhyming. What kind of penalty preceded that play?

Unsportsmanlike conduct. Dixie sacked the QB and apparently couldn't keep their mouth shut.

Never fails with Dixie. They always blame everyone but themselves. It’s a culture thing that goes back to the Spritzky era at least.

I think this narrative of Dixie being undisciplined is a little overdone. From what I can remember, last night there was only 2-5 penalties on Dixie. Granted, one came at a very bad time and gave Beechwood a second chance that they capitalized on, but I didn't leave last night thinking that it was their inability to play disciplined football that cost them the game. I thought it had more to do with Beechwood's WRs making great catches and taking advantage of every opportunity they had.

Only thing is, the ref didn’t have a single sole in front of him. He has the best view in the stadium. It sucks but it’s over.

I think we should call this game a tie and move on.

Here is the play. Unless he screamed some words while tackling him I see nothing unusual.

Go back and watch the video. I think his view was blocked by players between him and the tackle at the time the facemask happened.

Beechwood hit for big plays late in game. If you went to the game you might have noticed they came after a stoppage.
