Dixie is definitely much improved. They have some excellent players.

Rice is a stud. Only weakness in his game is someone needs to teach him how to shake hands. 

QB Gregg is an excellent runner and can make some throws, but much more effective running the ball. 

Anderson at RB is tough and elusive. 

Dixie has toned down the hurry up offense and do a nice job switching up tempo. 

For Beechwood, skill players everywhere. Hayden at QB is showing how good he is - and how tough he is, physically and mentally. He took some big hits and still stayed in there and made multiple big throws when he knew a hit was coming. Threw 7 TD passes tonight and had to be over 400 yards passing. The INT he threw was on the money to his WR, bounced off his hands to a Dixie defender. Erdman and Cusick are great receivers. All those players are juniors. Add in freshman talent Fryman at WR and those 3 WR's have to be one of the best trios in the state. On top of those three, throw in Sr. WR Talon Linder who made some nice plays tonight. Beechwood defense got chewed on tonight but they made plays when they needed them including the stop on the 2 point try in OT. 

I take back my Dixie will have more punts than points comment, unless, Dixie punted 49 times tonight and still managed to put up 48. If that’s the case, I’m very impressed.

Can we please put the term flat in the trash and throw it out once and for all? It is almost never an accurate description of what is happening in a game. I think it is a lazy term and worthless.

Second, please don't accuse Beechwood players of quitting. You only make yourself look silly. Especially in a game like tonight. Sometimes the other team makes plays. Give them credit. Those plays did not happen because Beechwood quit. Beechwood players are not going to quit. Not in the BNA.

I believe you answered your own opinion, lazy and worthless is the exact description of flat. A team who imposes their will is expected to do that weekly no matter the opponent, when the execution is lacking the term flat comes alive. Not as negative of a term as you’re portraying it to be in my opinion, it’s a good thing to be under the pressure and have expectation to be great.

Anyone know when the last time Beechwood gave up that many points? No dog in the fight just curious.

Difference of opinion. For me as a player or coach, there are few terms that I would consider more derogatory than flat. Flat means you don't care enough to show up. Just a notch above quitter. I think it is very rare than a high school team shows up for a football game "flat".

2019 - Cov Cath scored 49 and Somerset scored 46 (2A champions in 2019).

The Oxford Dictionary's second definition for flat is "lacking interest or emotion, dull and lifeless." I don't know how else you could have described Beechwood when they were down 27-14. That's not to say that they can't recover that emotion and interest later, they definitely did in the second half.

So "flat" seems like a reasonable word to retain in our vocabulary.

Yeah I’m not sure why we are debating your fancy book words and such, but it seems defense might be optional this year in 2A. They have two weeks to figure out how to stop a good team before they play cupcakes all the way to the semifinals.

Beechwood will be fine. They have a smaller than normal roster, with 9 guys going both ways. As always, they’re slugging it out these first 5 weeks with teams that platoon, which this year is more of a challenge due to depth. 
 

Dixie is a good football team. They may be a little undisciplined at times but that doesn’t take away from the fact that they’re big, athletic and physical. 
 

Last night, Brauch Rice showed why he is one of the top players, not only in NKY, but the entire state. Miami is getting a steal in that one.

There was a lot of talk about LCA’s defense being bad.  Am I expected to believe Beechwood would hold LCA to less than 50?  Dixie heights may be good, but they are not BG or Boyle.
