What's going to happen when in 2A playoffs, they play a team of equal offense as in the first two games but that team have better defense. I do believe Mayfield and Beechwood will have good enough offenses to put up points and will have better defenses from what I've seen in their first two opponents...I was not impressed with BG or BC defense...Beechwood slowed down in 2 straight championship games LCAs offense, Mayfield done the same in playoffs last year. LCA again is relying too much on their offensive power which can lead to more interceptions and loses in playoffs and championship games.

Defense does win Championships. I can’t argue with this.

Finally got to watch early in the 4th quarter. Bottom line, Boyle is Boyle. It's going to take an outstanding effort to beat them. That said, LCA had their chances...but Boyle just wears everyone

What they say but you can't win the game if your offense can't score.

With the RB LCA now has they can beat you running or passing.  LCA's D played Boyle very well against the run and will take a passing team to out score them.  I've been wrong before but I find it hard to believe there is a 2A team that can beat them THIS YEAR.

I watched at least 1 game of all the big 3 in 2A (Mayfield, Beechwood, & LCA). My take is they all have their strengths and could beat each other on any given day. It’s still remains a relatively equal 3 way race.

Numbers are a little misleading.  32-257 4TDs.   Over half those yards on 2 plays the other 30 rushes IMO they held tough.  The speed Boyle has LCA will not see in the 2A playoffs.

Was great game for this early in the season. Boyle made more plays and has few more players. I thought the speed of Boyle was an issue for LCA.

Once the chains are set after a new first down, there is a clip that is clipped on the backside of the closest "hard" yard line.  20, 25, 30.... which ever is closest to the first stick.  After that players running on and off the field kick the chains, coaches get in the way, players fall out of bounds etc....  You try to put them back where you were but sometimes it's hard on the fly.  Then whenever a measurement is needed the officials use the clip to establish where the chains were originally set.  The crew tries to get things set back to the original placement as best as can be telling the opposite stick to "pull it tight" again and things like that but they get knocked and moved around quite a bit.  Especially if it's a good, close, fast paced game.  I've never known anyone to purposefully set the sticks short so the players think the 1st down is shorter than it appears.

I understand all of that, I've worked the sticks several times. I'm not saying it was or wasn't done intentionally, just that it could have given a false impression of where the line to make was.

I've seen tons of shenanigans from chain crews over the years, but most were at levels below varsity level high school.

In 2021 LCA had Xavier Brown at RB. A higher rated D1 prospect than Hensley and a more explosive runner. They had Mason Moore at WR, a better WR than anyone on LCA's 2023 roster. Drew Nieves was one of the best QB's in the state and only threw 1 INT the entire season.

That LCA team arguably had a better offense than this 2023 team and that LCA team did not win a title. I don't know why people forget all that.

THANK YOU VOR...that's all I was trying to say..those teams were better offensively and defensively and still lost..A 2A team with a good defense ie: BW and Mayfield which  traditionally does and have good enough offenses got a shot especially against LCA especially if LCA continues to struggle defensively... Its gonna be interesting in 2A and I can't wait...they've been 0-3 against BW and Mayfield in past 3 years and from what I've been told should of lost last year to OC in playoffs....

Even if you factor those two rushes out and remove 125 yards. That still comes out to be about 4 yards per carry. I'm not sure that's the standard either team would be happy with on defense.

Uh oh. Now you've done it. You've thrown the speed card out. Prepare for the Mayfield fan response.

Are you sure about that? Mayfield won the State Championship in the 4x400 last spring with all underclassmen. They all play football and there's plenty more. I would say Mayfield has as much speed as any team in the State , no matter the class.

Thank you snake! I knew you would come through on that one!

No. The thing that I was looking for only happened clearly on one set of downs. The ones where LCA turned the ball over on downs when Boley was stopped on a QB run.

The stick that signifies the line to gain for a first down seemed to be spotted a yard short. Boley made it past the stick, but when the chain was stretched out he was short. Even on the play before the runner thought he had a first down when he jumped up, because he was very near the stick...again the stick was a yard short of an actual first down. I may be seeing it wrong, but the rest of the game it never looked short of 10 yards.

I'm not saying that it was intentional at all and I'm not accusing anyone of shenanigans. If the QB looks over at the sticks and the first down stick is sitting on the 25, I could see him just trying to get across that line thinking that was all he needed.

In going back I also noticed one team was offsides on nearly every kickoff, in one case it looked like 4 players crossed the line before the ball was struck.

I was sitting right on the 30 yd. line. Saw both plays clearly that you are talking about. I thought the running back got a great spot on the ball. Looked to be down 3 yds. short of the line to gain. Boyle just made a great defensive play on the QB and it was clear th.at he was short by  at least 2ft. The offical on the LC sideline came running over with his foot placing the ball barely inside the 30, while one of the other officals moved it forward about another foot. Give the defense credit for a great play and leave the chain crew out of it. Boyle was the better team as the score shows. They beat LC earlier in the EKU 7on 7 so it is time to quit whining and move on.

I never said that it was a bad spot or that the defense did a poor job. I'm not whining either, I'm not a fan of either school.

I'm not going to explain my point again.
