Bob didn't play one down in any of the three games. He didn't fumble, commit a personal foul, miss a tackle, throw an incompletion, etc. But as usual, it's the coach's fault. Before you say anything about the personal fouls.....that falls on a coach too.....but I can honestly say it's about PLAYERS.

The man runs the program. You cannot be serious with this post. It quite literally is his job to control/teach everything you just described.

  • I would think he’d be “told” he needed the JV reps not “asked. “

Is that the way it works now?  Am I correct that this is high school football?

I talked to a press member who was on the Highlands side of the field during the first half of the varsity game. They said they weren't close enough to hear exactly what was said by whom when the personal foul was called on the Highlands bench, but they said, "[Bob] Sphire was up within 3 feet of the official's face jawing at him when the flag came out."

That’ll do it. Sphire was coming out to the numbers early and often in the game. Good for the officials to shut that down. As a HC you can’t let your emotions get you to that point especially that early in a game.

I hear all of that.   But what about blocking well after the whistle and knocking a player's helmet off in a rivalry game.   Definitely wrong for the Highlands kid to react but #10 should have been flagged as well

I heard Lorenzen was a beast in this game! I know of one play he had a guy on his back and still got away a pass to Abner in the end zone. Person said it was like watching Jared back in the day when he had guys hanging on him and still was able to throw the ball. Sounded like some good football this morning in Park Hills!

Lorenzen looks and carries himself exactly the way I remember Jared.

This young man may or may not know this yet but he is going to be the man for the next 2 year Highlands.

Is he?  It had been my understanding that many were not enamored with him as a quarterback.  I will say this, I watched the young man play last year at the 8th grade level and he is a “football” player.  There are several in that group that are wired the same way.

The dumbest thing I heard was that 5 frosh played the entire JV game before the frosh game.  Come on coaches you have to be better than that.  Parents don’t let this even occur.  If a frosh is good enough to play JV then that is where they play.  If not, that is what frosh ball is there for.  You have a kid that got 3 snaps in a varsity game on Friday  that was asked to play?

Bob’s family must’ve started an account!

If true and the backup QB wasn’t injured and just didn’t want to play jv against the rival, he must not want to be the QB next year. He’s not going to get the reps to be prepared to be the starting QB next year based on varsity snaps this year. He might want to find a new position. Can he play corner?

I thought they should’ve had a flag in each player, I even told my wife that they would do so. I very surprised they only penalized the Highlands player. As far as freshman playing a whole JV game then in the freshmen game, that’s pure insanity. I would think a parent would shut that down.

If this is true, those 5 players will not be eligible to play again until next Friday. The KHSAA 8 quarter rule starts on Friday and runs through Thursday of the following week. So by rule, if they played 8 quarters on Saturday, they would be required to miss any games scheduled this week before Friday night's varsity game.
