Ed McKinney has stepped down.  Very likeable coach.  Recent defects had to play a role in this.

I hate to see this. McKinney was good for Danville and did a nice job. Curious who the next coach will be?

I’d say they already have their replacement. 

Sad to see this.  McKinney was a great coach for the program with four trips to the 12th region finals.  When you played his teams you knew you would be in for a fight, evidenced by how his team nearly upset the Boyle squad that went to the Final Four in the district semi-finals in 2015.  I thought he might do one more season to get the all-time wins record for the program but I can see why he'd step aside with all the roster turnover.

I'd have to think Tryston Ford might be in the running for this job.  Brandon Cooper, who coached at Garrard recently, also worked under McKinney for a few years in the late 2010s so I wonder if he'd give this job a look.

Tryston Ford or Buddy Trumbo should get the job. The kids love them!

From courtside, Ed McKinney coached hard but always seemed to be having fun. His kids were the same way. Its a shame they never could get over the hump and win a region title, but it seemed like quite often they were knocking on the door.

I love me some Buddy Trumbo so if he is in the running then I am hopeful that he gets it.  
 

Same goes for Tryston.  I have a lot of love for Tryston as well and would fully support him getting the job as well.  
 

If Danville wants to make a hire that the community would rally around and possibly change things for the better at Danville then they need to take a hard look at both of these candidates.  It’s truly a win-win situation for everyone. 
 

Danville hires either one of them and I’d definitely rock a Danville hoodie for the first time.  Proudly.  

Danville has lost some critical pieces but seems to always find athletes. They need to take their time and find a coach willing to start bare bones and build a program. 

Hate it for Ed McKinney but can't say I blame him at all. Every contributing player from last season got poached from his roster.

I hope that Coach McKinney has his superintendent certification and would remain in Danville for that role!

I believe they hired Elmer Thomas for that job last week.

I heard George Bakers name brought up, heard he will be looked at pretty hard for this job, already in the school system I believe at Danville 

Just saw announcing new coach tomorrow. This quick it has to be in house or I’m going to throw out a name that hasn’t been mentioned, Cliff Berry.
