I could be wrong, but they way I read into it last year, was that if a player drops out of college to pursue a NBA career, then it doesn't count negatively against a school. Now, flunking classes and not graduating due to grades is another thing entirely:thumb:

If a student leaves to go to the NBA, they still have to be a student in good standing with the university ( grades ect). If not then points are applied, so many points and the university loses a scholarship.

When I had a chance to talk to his AAU and Assitant Coach for HH. I got the impression that Patrick Patterson decision is going to come down to Florida or Duke. Sorry U.K.

UC is an example of the wrong way to get rid of a coach, and flush the program. Nothing even close to being related to one and done players...

 

I stated earlier in the thread that UC's problem wasn't the one and done players. I was just using them as an example in relation to the new rule, since they are the only school I have heard of losing a scholly due to it, thus far.

I don't know all the specifics of the rule. But lets say a kid doesn't go to some of his classes and is failing most of them, because he know's he's going to he league in a year and doesn't care. Does the rule apply then? Or are kids that can leave and go to the league in a year not subject to the same academic standards that the other players are?

You have to leave in good academic standing...

Nothing else would make sense. It is completely beyond the control of a coach and school what individual players do when making a leap to the NBA. Whether kids have time to study and tutors available to help them make decent grades and get something out of their schooling while in school is another matter entirely. :thumb:

 

Coaches don't have control over a kid transfering to another school either. However to my knowledge, with the new rule schools can be penalized for having to many kids transfter out, too. However a coach has no more control over a player doing that than they do a player going to the league.

For the ones who go on to the NBA, with all that money their GPA is rather "academic". Tons of greenbacks tend to make one forget about making the dean's list.

Correct.. Which is the problem I see in recruiting one and done players, now that the new rule is in place.

What would be considered a better game? Keeping the margin under 30? Under 20? If your asking will it be a close game, my answer is no.

 

It'll be hard to guage either way. I'll take HHS by 30 in that one too. However it all just depends on how hard they play. It seems they toy with teams a lot, letting them get within 12-15, then they just blow it wide open to a 30 point margin again.
