Got to see OJ play again tonight!! What a talented player!! has the complete package to play basketball. Tubby was at the game and Mayo and Patterson put on a show...... # 21 for HHS was a very good player as well. Where ever OJ goes they are contenders right out of the gate. Can pass, shoot, and run point. He'll be fun in college for one no more than two years and then gone. It was a fun game to be at. Glad I was there!!

The Cincinnati school that OJ attended is, year in and year out, one of the top HS programs in the country. Huntington High, WITHOUT OJ is as good as anyone. So I guess, as good as he is, if the coaches at these schools will simply get out of his way and keep him out of trouble (at least at Cincy, a hard job in itself) then I guess he would make a great program even better. Id like to see what he could do for a weak program, single handed. (And that does not count his stint at Rose Hill, that while he was indeed very young, brought an entire team of talent with him for WV every day to help out.

North College Hills won just a few games before he got there and they won 20games the next year. Then they won back to back state titles his 10th and 11th grade years. When he went to Rose Hill all of those players didnt play Varsity. HHS was very good on the State level before he got there now they are ranked #3 in the Nation.

NCH was 2-19 the year before Mayo and Walker arrived. Other than for the years of Mayo and Walker, only the mothers of the players would have thought that NCH was "one of the top HS programs in the country". If it was "top" in anything it sure wasn't basketball.

 

Huntington was a state power without Mayo. It is now a national power. Without Mayo, the LexCath game may well have ended somewhat differently. Patterson is good but he is far from being Mayo or, for that matter, Walker.

I enjoued watching the game and I thought Lex Cath gave apretty good account og themselves. I also think they could have done better if not for the hard fought game against Lafayette on Friday night. Is Mayo really that unselfish or just doesn't like to expose his outside shooting weakness?

He said in the Paper that he wanted Patterson to put on a show for the UK fans. So I would say he is unselfish. He scored 6 points the 1st half and 31 the second half.:thumb:

They will, once they start losing scholly's due to players not finishing school. The NCAA penalizes schools for such things now. UC is an example of that.

I guess Reggie Hanson had a girlfriend or close friend at all of OJ's 7th Grade games then, because he sure was there for some wild reason....Odd that he was doing all of KY's recruiting at the time too.....:thumb:

 

 

Sure, he was there to see OJ play, among others. But just because an assistant coach goes to scout a kid, doesn't mean they're heavily recruiting him. They watch a lot of kids play that they have little or no interest in. Reggie was also there to see Dawson, whom was a senior during OJ's 7th grade season. From what Reggie told a member of my family, UK was prepared to ask Dawson to walk on for a season and have an opportunity to play his way into a schollarship the following season. But alas, his test scores were not high enough to get in. How many times did you see UK recruiters at RH games after Dawson left? The answer will likely be none.

Nothing else would make sense. It is completely beyond the control of a coach and school what individual players do when making a leap to the NBA. Whether kids have time to study and tutors available to help them make decent grades and get something out of their schooling while in school is another matter entirely. :thumb:

UC is an example of the wrong way to get rid of a coach, and flush the program. Nothing even close to being related to one and done players...

When I had a chance to talk to his AAU and Assitant Coach for HH. I got the impression that Patrick Patterson decision is going to come down to Florida or Duke. Sorry U.K.
