Maybe you thought wrong.

I did not see the Finals, but several very "knowledgeable" football fans thought a CCH vs. Trinity game would have been a very good matchup, and that CCH could have won.

That would have been a very interesting game.:D I may have laid to rest many a guestions.

Some interesting points made so far on this thread about developing a jr. high team, strengthening the run defense, etc. I havent heard much about the key players returning. Outside of Buckley who will be the horse next year, who can the Colonels count on to step into the key positions?

Losing Flynn,Brown,Bovard,Bleser,Giesen, popham, etc...... these are some HUGE holes to fill and I am curious who is gong to step up.

You don't have to give us a scouting report but lets hear about the kids who are itching to earn positions. Also, I was very impressed with the Colonel line this past season, how many were seniors? I am hoping all of them. : )

On the offensive line, all of the starters except for the Right Guard (Andy Schulte) were seniors. The class of 2009 has a lot of size but it is up to the coaches to develop that. I am sure that 08 will provide a starter or two on the line as well in addition to Schulte.

The D-line was a rotation of 5 different seniors, but players like Bruner (a sophmore this season) were very impressive.

There are some individuals who will be seniors next year that didn't get a lot of PT this year who will contribute. Michael Jacobs comes to mind as does Hans Roedig. Next year's SR class has talent but its not as deep as the current SR class or some of the recent classes. The current SOPH class will provide much of the PT next year. From what I recall, they are pretty big on the lines as a group. Strength, football strength that is, needs to be worked on with this group.

Pat Van Sant will be a major contributor. He can play both sides of the ball. I'd guess Wil Deters will be another back who gets carries to supplement Buckley. You might see Kyle Furnish play offense as well as safety. He's a very good athlete. Heck, he may get some PT at the QB position.

Inexperienced will be the early prognosis but they will be capable .

The kicker has not signed yet. He is at Wake Forest today on an official visit.

I am hoping this weekend is Christmas and we can put this game to rest.

ND has pulled out of the hunt last night when their big running back declared for the NFL.

Keep us posted GP

BTW B Brown offered today by Brown University in the Ivy League while on his trip to Providence for his official visit

I believe would be completely appropriate with his last name !!!!!

I won't be shocked if Rodenberg is at Roger Bacon in June.

Unless he goes to a GCL South job, I think Rodenberg will be back.*

*I've been wrong in the past though.

And I talk to Highlands people who, since they want Rodenburg to go, treat every wild snippet they hear as gospel truth. In the end, nobody knows for sure one way of the other.

I think you are greatly over estimating the number of Highlands fans that want Rodenburg to go. I'm not sure you can, based on this year, label him as some type of "Highlands Killer", unless you want to also admit that Highlands had better talent than CovCath this year and the CovCath wins this year were thus the result of Rodenburg's coaching as opposed to having more talented players. Based on the All BGP team selections, the wins this year were more of a result of a more talented, deeper senior CCH class than any great coaching by Rodenburg in my opinion. Don't get me wrong; I do think he is a good coach and has been an improvement over Coach Ray (at least from and X's and O's perspective). Personally, I'd love for him to stay for at least 3 more years, as I really like our chances to get a little revenge against CovCath and Rodenburg based on what I see coming up in those years. No one more so than Coach Rodenburg has created the environment spawning the rumors.

Congrats to Brownie. I know his father really wants him to go to an Ivy school to broaden his experiences. Brown is a nice school, a little too liberal for my tastes, but a very nice school. Good luck to Brandon if he decides to go there and play ball. In my opinion, he was the mvp on CovCath's team this year.

Agreed. I posted in another thread that he wasn't the most talented player on the team - just the most valuable.
