  • I don't know, the more you move up, the tougher it gets.

  • I don’t think it’s that big step for Pikeville. Would like to see them and Beechwood play.

  • Look for Barren Co and Warren Central to "stay or go" together.  If one goes, the other is in a district with BG, SW, and Gwood.  Both leave for 6A, they are likely in the Hardin Co. district.  If bot

Interested to see what Barren County will do.  I assume request to play up in 6A as they did before.

Anyone with any insight here?

I doubt it. To me, the only real option was Trimble County (just because all of their other sport neighbors are 2A and its makes a convenient district), but they made an announcement almost immediately after the numbers came out that they would be staying in 1A.

Would Pikeville ever consider playing up in 2A? I don’t see them losing in Class A for the next 5 years at least.

I was interested to see that Pikeville's enrollment numbers dropped. In 2019-20, they had 212 boys. This year's number was 191. That loss of about 20~ boys was likely the difference between them being 2A or 1A.

I believe tomorrow is the deadline. Any new news?

Hearing Bardstown to 4A and Lincoln County to 5A.

Bardstown a little surprising. I know Lincoln County was on the fence but hadn’t heard anything official.

I think Lincoln is leaning 5A.

Yup.

What are the benefits? Seems like a no win situation. Don't think Whitley (dropping) means Lincoln is a straight swap to 5A D8 with Southwestern and Pulaski.

Standing pat in 4A is likely to put them in D5, which could be radically different geographically, but still anchored by Boyle and Lex Cath.

I think enrollments pushed more movement into and out of 4A than any other class in recent memory. Districts 3 through 6 are going to be barely recognizable even before anyone petitions up.

Tough call for the Patriots.

LexCath is staying in 3A.  I would think Lincoln would get put in Boyle's district but obviously not for sure.  They go to 5A and maybe end up with the Pulaski/Southwestern but maybe go north to play the Jessamine's and Woodford.  It is a tough call. But if I'm trying to rebuild I would rather take on the Pulaski twins who are 50 minutes away than Boyle who is 10 min away.

Yes, I didn't carry the 1 there on Lex Cath dropping. ? Makes me want to double-check my cyphering on a possible all-JCPS 4A District 4: Doss, J'town, Moore, Valley and Waggener.

Good call on the Pulaskis vs. Boyle dilemma.

Will schools be allowed to play up even if bottom three schools decline the option to play down in exchange?  We have the option of playing down and the way I read the e mail it seemed as though schools asking to play up can only move up if someone in the bottom three in that class is willing to play down. I could be wrong. Does anyone know how that part works.

I have no idea either but is it limited to the bottom three schools or will the KHSAA keeping going up from the bottom to ask teams if they want to play down?
