A matchup of “newer” Blue bloods awaits us Friday night at Rebel Stadium. There have been 16 state titles between the 2 schools. All coming since 1999. Boyle has 10 of those and Central 6. Both teams thrive on and pride themselves on top tier defense.

Central enters the game at 9-4, winners of their last 7 games and have given up a total of 26 points in those 7 games. Granted one win is a 1-0 forfeit in the first round but impressive numbers nonetheless. The Central offense runs through Cortez Stone. Stone has 2123 rushing yards, 195 receiving yards and 26 Touchdowns. Talk about a super sophomore!

Boyle enters the game at 11-2 fresh off of a 41-21 win over district rival Lexington Catholic. Boyle has relied heavily on their ground game thus far in the playoffs. They’ve rushed for 277 yards per game and only attempting 12 passes per game at a 122 ypg clip. Boyle’s own super sophomore Tavey Quisenberry and junior Avery Bodner account for most of those yards.

This is one of those games where the team with the fewest turnovers and plays the cleanest game will come out on top. Fully expect a defensive showdown that will be worth the price of admission. Who do you got in this one?

It’s going to be hard to vote against Boyle County. Most teams aren’t very successful running the ball against the Rebels. Frederick Douglass was the exception and we all see what kind of season they are having. I think maybe one other team eclipsed the 100 yard mark on the Rebels all season and that was Bowling Green. I could be wrong on that.

I’ll take Boyle County at home but not sure on the score yet.

Boyle better plan on stopping #8 Cortez Stone who had 22 rushes for 363 yards and 5 touchdowns last night.  Sure Boyle will be working hard this week on stopping the run.   Central only had 7 passing attempts.

Two of the best Sophomores in the State go head to head. Cortez Stone and Montavin Quisenberry. Both have Multiple D1 offers. I'll take Boyle County by 3TDs.

Stone has offers from Louisville, Purdue, Western Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky. Quisenberry has offers from Louisville, Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky.

You are right Charles.  BG had 127 rushing years vs Boyle earlier in the year.

Going to be tough going into Boyle & leaving with a win at any time, but especially in the playoffs. I don’t see it happening here

Boyle-35

Central-13.

Very impressive. There were a half dozen runs in those clips where I said you have got to be kidding me. That includes runs against St. X and a long TD where he outran Franklin County's Kaden Moorman. Fantastic speed and enough power to break tackles. Can stop on a dime and get back to top speed almost instantly. Good vision to read blocks and find the right seam to burst through.

Side note: #7 Jordan Brooks, Shelby County. He was able to run with Stone and eventually tackle him at about the 5 on a long run. Note to self to keep an eye out for this player.

If Boyle plays the kind of game they did against Catholic it will be a no brained especially if Central has no passing threat

Boyle had a big edge in time of possession vs Catholic and had a huge edge in plays.   Boyle ended the game with 75 while Catholic had 28.
If this plays out again Vs Central it will be a long night for Central.  I give the coaching staff for Boyle a lot of credit for that win.  Great time management on their part

Catholic doesn’t have anywhere near the team speed Central does. Will that equate to a Central win? Not necessarily. But comparing Central to Catholic isn’t going to do us any good.

Central seems to be playing extremely well. Cortez Stone is scary good. Looks like the QB runs the ball quite a bit as well.

Central just needs to throw it enough to keep Boyle honest. In Central's 24-0 win over Franklin County, the QB was 4/6 for 136 yards.

I think that had a lot to do with the style of offense both teams run. Passing the ball as often as Lexi Cath does and Boyle running the ball that often give way to that kind of disparity in T.O.P and number of plays. I'd say this game will have a much closer margin in those categories.
