That's a tough call, but I think it was a fumble.  Only the ref looking towards the offense could have made that call though.  He may have been blocked from seeing it clearly.

Really the issue for Greenwood beyond just losing a needed stop was that there was potential that they were going to take it to the house.  Someone speedy on X might have run them down, but they def would have been in good field position.

The side angle will give you the illusion that his knee was down.  The end zone angle isn't perfect as our cameras were not as clear as today, but I've always felt it was clear that the ball was moving before his knee went down. They were down 8, so even if they'd gone to the house, they'd have had to get the two point conversion just to tie the game.  But not getting that, it essentially ended the game.  Pretty much broke Greenwood.

This is the video I remember looking at back then when I heard about the game. I wasn't at Greenwood that night; I was actually down the road at another game that night. 

Definitely a fumble. But the refs have to make that call in real time at real speed. It's hard to tell at full speed.
