I just don't understand the outcry from traveling 2-4 hours for 2-3 games a year.

Because it can be a logistical nightmare. And expensive. You’ve got people and equipment to move, and school buses aren’t great vehicles to do that for long trips. You’ve got make sure 40+kids get fed. For longer trips, it means getting started during the school day. And it means traveling in the middle of the night through dark country roads. For schools that are well funded, it’s not as big of a deal. But for the average school, this is a major operation, on a shoestring budget, that no one wants to do multiple times a year.

I was thinking that as well. It would be easier for them to win state. Cov Cath, Highlands, Holmes, Scott as a district. 
Do you see any other NKY teams making a move? Holy Cross to 1A? Any teams changing districts?

If Holy Cross is to do that I can see Walton-Verona moving from District 5 to District 6. District 6 currently has 6 teams and District 5 would be at 3 teams and Walton is as closer to Beechwood, Lloyd, and Newport than Carroll County, Gallatin County, Owen County, Shawnee, and Trimble County.

I really don't think that it will give either Cov Cath or Highlands a better shot at state then they would have in 5A. They'd have to go up against Corbin, Boyle, Lex Cath every year in the playoffs probably. I think they have the same chance in 5A as they would in 4A.

Boyle was within a 2 point conversion of clocking the 5A runner-up last year.

Definitely a year by year thing. Potential 5A second round matchups - Cov Cath vs. Freddy D, Highlands vs. Scott Co., Bowling Green vs. South Warren, Pulaski vs. Woodford Co. You will not see that in 4A. 

If Freddy D and Scott Co. go to 6A and Boyle stays in 4A next year, I think you could make the case that 5A would be preferred. But not this season.

I have to disagree.  Most years Corbin, Lex Cath, and Johnson Central ain't on the same level as Bowling Green, South Warren, and Freddie D.  Boyle county is, but it 5a most years you have about 3 or 4 teams to go through that are that level.

Most years ill take the top 4 in 5a over the top 4 in 4a.

This could be a possibility but I have heard that Walton-Verona could have numbers to move to 3A.

Just curious, Who would that district be? 
NKY doesn’t have any 3A teams. I believe the closest 3A would be Lewis County / Mason County.

Pendleton, Mason, Lewis, Fleming and Powell. Addition of another NKY Team would probably remove Powell from the equation in that district.

Oh wow didn’t know that!! That would be interesting for sure. I am very curious how this will all break down. Does anyone know when this is expected to be announced?
