Jackets Look To Keep Struggling Flyers Grounded

Table Setter: It's hard to be more dominant than four running clock victories in four games. That's what Woodford County has behind it at the moment. The Jackets have rolled, untested, through the first month of the season, manhandling their opposition by an average score of 46-9. Their offense presents problems from one side of the field to the other, preventing opponents from keying on any one individual. Andrew Nason (QB), Makhi Smith (WR), Aden Nelson (WR), and Preston Stacy (RB) provide coach Dennis Johnson a buffet of options. Allowing them ample time and space to operate is a big, imposing offensive line, headed up by Ball State commit Tristan Cook.

The task of taming that unit this week falls on Franklin County, who's reeling after consecutive losses to Corbin and Ballard, surrendering 40+ in each contest. They're 1-3, trending down in the polls, Kaden Moorman is stuck in neutral… Might as well cancel the season, right? Not so fast… The Flyers hit a rough patch at this juncture last season, but recovered to make a run to the semifinals. Stopping the Woodford freight train may very well prove a bridge too far, but Franklin County's ultimate goal lies beyond anything that transpires this week. This is an opportunity for growth against a very strong opponent. Expect the Flyers to embrace it.

Hopefully FC rights the ship, but it won't happen this week. Woodford is very aware of what appears to be a RPI race against Douglass, for that top seed.
