Final

Ashland can't buy one in the fourth quarter. Actually, that's exactly what we got - one point in the fourth quarter.

Congrats to Cov Cath.

Impressive 3rd quarter by the Tomcats. They've got some things to build on.

Thanks, Colonel fan. No shame in losing to Cov Cath, as long as we gave the effort. I'm not sure what he said at halftime, but I'm guessing that Buddy Biggs is finding the right buttons to push with this team.

Ashland came out inspired in the 3rd and played hard and finally got within 4, but then Cov Cath started pulling away. Cov Cath has a good team who can shoot lights out.

I thought Ashland had a great shot to win this one and considering the way things could have gone after they started, you give them some credit for coming back.

These games will help come tourney time, but that 9th region should be fun. Is Cov emerging as the favorite or is Boone Co just as good or better this year?

Too early to tell. Holmes did not look good tonight in a loss. St Henry has to be listed as a contender. We'll find out more about Boone in the next couple of weeks.

Sounds like CovCath forgot that playing "D" wins games. My guess is that Coach L sort of brought that up in the huddle at the end of the third quarter.....

CovCath now plays Highlands, and Boone away, then Holmes and Holy Cross at CovCath....a rather tough road for CovCath in the next two weeks.

I had never been to Ashland Paul Blazer before, what a great atmosphere. And this is coming from someone who is at the CovCath games in a top 15 place in the country.

As for Ashland, Thomas was dominant at times and invisible at others. Bonner needs to get the ball more. McDavid is solid. They have a nice core of shooters but they need to develop a defensive stopper.

As for CovCath, everyone played well except for the 3rd Quarter.

Stats anyone?

Good win for the Colonels. Great effort by the Tomcats...had every reason to quit after a dismal first half, but made it a good game and had every opportunity to win it. The Colonels still don't seem to have a grip on how to use all their weapons, lots and lots and lots of different combinations with no apparant rhyme or reason, BUT, the biggest nod has to go to Schult. He showed signs of returning to full capacity and he is the obvious key imo. He played great, especially considering he is still at about 75%! If CCH figures out how to use all these kids to their potential, they are still the 9th's best imo. Wish they'd press and trap for 32 minutes and exhaust their bench with Schult, Bo, and TJ anchoring...they have the ability to run you out of the gym, fortunately for the others...they don't. They seem to be irrationally addicted to a terrible half court O that gets them nothing. When they spread out and simply use their athleticism and depth and just play, they are an impossible match up for almost anyone.

Glad to hear CovCath's Billy Schult is back and doing well!!

The passing for CCH was very impressive during several sequences. It was like dink, dank, doink, bink, blank, Basket at times. To be honest I'm not sure I've ever witnessed a team pass the ball in the paint 3 and 4 times and end up scoring!

As for the Tomcats it was a VERY sprited come back in the 3rd, but we have to finish the deal. I believe we've seen pieces of what this Tomcat team can be. Its time to go back to work men, because when those rough edges get knocked off we'll have a pretty good team.

By the way I was impressed with some of Ryan Bonner's insdie moves tonight! He didn't hit all of those shots but it nice to see the big guy active in the paint.

How many starters did CCH return from last years team?

Okay one last question, what number is Schult? I'm guessing #3?
