Okay one last question, what number is Schult? I'm guessing #3?

I think Billy Schult wears #44.

I know that Todd Jacobs wears #3.

Billy Schult with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. By FAR the best stat line of the year for a CovCath player. I thought it looked like it was going to take him a long time to come back after having seen him limp out of the Beechwood game a couple of times. Any suggestions for any side dishes to eat with my crow?

I have the stats next to me..... TJ had 15 pts 7 rbs 6 assists, Bo had 10 pts 7 assists, and Schult had 12 pts, 7 rbs, and 4 assists. Michael Grimes added 14 pts on 7/9 shooting.

How many starters did CCH return from last years team?

2 people who started all last year and the year before (#3 Jacobs and #13 Bovard) and 1 who started half of last year, but not last night (#44 Schult)

How many starters did CCH return from last years team?

#3 Todd Jacobs:

#13 Kurt Bovard: All state WR for the AAA State Champion CovCath football team and as thus just getting his basketball legs back)

#44 Billy Schult: Who was injured in a scrimmage game, playing in what is only his second game back....

#20 Brandon Brown: IMO the MVP of the CovCath football team, was on last years team as maybe the 7th/8th man in last year. Was and is the best defender on the team...

None of the others on the team, had much more than a little varsity playing time. All were on the JV team.....but oh what a JV team.....

I guess you can't believe everything you read. The Post must have gotten some bad info. I'll give Billy the 2nd best stat line of the year. Mr. Jacobs now the new #1. Didn't those two play together at St. Pius? Look out 9th Region; there's a new sheriff in town.

If CCH figures out how to use all these kids to their potential, they are still the 9th's best imo. Wish they'd press and trap for 32 minutes and exhaust their bench with Schult, Bo, and TJ anchoring...they have the ability to run you out of the gym, fortunately for the others...they don't. They seem to be irrationally addicted to a terrible half court O that gets them nothing.

Haven't we been over this one before? ;)

Is Bovard going to be playing football in college next year?

From the Ashland Daily Indpendent:

Comeback ’Cats fall short

Ashland — After coming back from 24 points down in the second quarter, Ashland’s comeback bid took on the resemblance of the Tomcats shots in the fourth period.

Just short.

Covington Cath used a steady performance and strong defense, holding Ashland to a lone fourth quarter point in a 65-51 win.

Ashland coach Buddy Biggs was left searching for words after the game.

“I don’t know what happened,” Biggs said. “I’ve never had a second half where we score 24 points in one quarter and one in the fourth. It’s never happened to one of my teams so I don’t have the answer right now.”

From the Cincy Enquirer:

Jacobs' all-around game lifts CovCath

Senior guard Todd Jacobs had 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists to lead Covington Catholic past Ashland Blazer 65-51 Friday night.

Junior forward Michael Grimes added 14 points. Senior center Billy Schult had 12 points and seven rebounds.

"We shut them down," CovCath coach Mike Listerman said. "We had 23 assists tonight and that is one of our strengths. I really thought coming into this season that our biggest strength was going to be our ball movement."

The Colonels are ranked No. 2 in the Enquirer coaches' poll.

Is Bovard going to be playing football in college next year?

Most likely, but who knows where.

Most likely, but who knows where.

Any offers yet?

Does anyone else find it odd that Listerman quoted CCH's biggest strength as "ball movement"? He may be right but I don't think I've ever heard a coach call that their biggest strength.

Good win for CCH, but what's the problem? They've nearly blown big leads to both Doss & Ashland. If BigStud was still here, we would have all the answers as to why the Colonels can't put teams away.

Comfy suburban boys, right?
