These should be great games!  I love this time of year.

Holmes did pretty good against Lloyd last week. Should be interesting. 

Am I out of line or is NKY football always overrated? I know this is regional poll but you guys get on here and an argue about who is the best of a sub par  geographical region with one of the highest populations of the entire state.  Year after year I see this thread, top ten in NKY. Outside of Beechwood and Cov Cath none these teams are ever a factor in their class. Name a team not Cov Cath or Beechwood from NKY that has done anything significant in the last 20 years.

NCC was pretty dang good back in the 2010s. Powerhouse in 2A.

I know they haven’t been as good as they usually are are lately, but Highlands probably won 7 or 8 state titles that first half of the last 20 years. I think NewCath also won 2 or 3 titles in that time as well. 

Ryle usually has a solid team and has a really good one every couple of years. Unfortunately they’re stuck in 6A playing the big Louisville schools in the playoffs and that’s a tough task. Overall, I think NKY football is a pretty good, but you don’t see the bigger teams when they have a team that hits like Ryle, Dixie, or Cooper when they we’re in 6A, win a state title because the Louisville schools are on a different level.

Newport Central Catholic

Ryle 

Cooper

Arguments also for Dixie, Conner, Boone, Holy Cross, Ludlow, Campbell, and maybe a few others, though either less recent or less consistent than the ones above.

I would say it's not that it's overrated, it's that there is nowhere outside of Louisville that has the number of schools that NKY has and each has its fervent fanbase. 

I don't think it is fair to call NKY "a sub par geographical region" either. It's a crowded area with a lot of competition and passionate fans.

Dixie went to the 6A finals in 2014.

I’d like to see your math. Highlands Cov Cath and Beechwood have around 40 between 3 programs. How many Eastern Kentucky programs have more state titles than Highlands Cov Cath or Beechwood? Or is your cherry picked 20 years window what you mean? 

I'm did not cherry pick the span of time, its just the amount of time that I have been old enough to keep an eye on things. I get this is "water cooler talk.'' It's also time for someone to call out NKY football for what it is; which is under achieving as a whole in comparison to the rest of the state. Good schools, good facilities, poor football.  I compare it to the thread of FD being fools gold, NKY football as a whole is fools gold.

I'll add NCC to the list of achievers as well. They did win a couple of titles.

I took an issue with you saying the football was sub par. You might want to do some research before mouthing off about something you don’t know anything about.
 

Also, you take offense to there being a thread about nky football rankings? Like how dare we discuss football in Nky? Make an Eastern Ky football rankings thread if you want. Don’t be a hater it’s not a good way to go through life. 

I am not hater. To be hater there has to be something to be jealous of.  Beechwood has a nice program. NCC had a run. Highlands has a hired a guy with a track record to get them to where they where, hopefully. Other than that...…..

Cov Cath maybe? Haha. 2 state titles and a runner up in past 5 years? Probably the second best program in the state behind T over the past 5 years. List your Eastern Ky programs against the Northern Kentucky Programs. Can’t wait.
