Sweet 16® - How many teams have a realistic shot?

Featured Replies

I don't watch many games and don't know the teams so I am asking, how many teams in the tourney have a realistic shot?  Also, in the past it seems that the winning teams have that one guy, who always comes thru when they need it.  So if you name the teams that have a realistic shot, tell me who that guy on the team is.  Thanks.

Here’s how I see the teams from best to worst for

T1: GRC- J.Morton & Male- K.Glenn

2: Cov Cath- M. Rylee & isparo

3: Ashland- C.Porter

T4: Warren central-idk , North laurel- reed Shepard

T5: Pikeville , North oldham

I'd say the winner will come from this group:

GRC

CovCath

Male

Also Lyon, could be in the conversation with Travis Perry. I don't think they’re as consistent as most of the other teams I mentioned but when they play good, they deserve to be up there.

Could be just me but I can see Warren Central defeating Male and making a deep run.

Possible I don’t know much about Warren Central, do they any D1 talent? Their stats look like they are a pretty balanced team. Do they have much size?

I know they have an outstanding coach and he always puts them in great positions to win.  I don’t know much about their personnel.  That’s a question for @DragonFire

I thought about WC too. I wouldn't be shocked if they beat Male.

I think Central is probably a year away from that kind of run.  Male should win by 10-15 pretty easily based on what I've seen. But, that's why they play the games!

I think I concur.

I don’t know that there’s a D1 player in the group. Coach Unseld’s son Kade may have the best shot - he’s roughly 6’4”, still growing, just a sophomore, and a deadeye perimeter shooter who is also capable of posting. Mostly what Central has is a collection of solidly talented high school players. Several will play college ball, I just don’t know that it’ll be at the D1 level.

Central doesn’t have anyone who is really, really tall, but they have height and length across the board. A whole bunch of 6’3”-6’5” guys. Very tall guards.

Central’s greatest strength is their balance. While it would be nice to have one guy averaging even more, they basically have such balance that if 1-2 guys have an off night, chances are someone else is gonna pick up the slack. Lawrence and Whitney are both more than capable of dropping 20-25, and have.

The draw didn’t do Central any favors and I think that’s why I would not necessarily consider them a title contender this year. Just too many teams to wade through. But I absolutely think they can beat Male, and if they do, they are more than capable of doing some real damage.
