  1. One of the more bizarre things I can remember seeing in a game of that magnitude. Down 2 with around a minute to play and Central missed about 6 FT's in a row and got the offensive rebound each time. Shouldn't happen once - definitely not multiple times especially with a D1 post player on the blocks.
  2. I still think BG was and is the better team this season, they just weren't in a 1 game scenario. They were borderline top 10 wire to wire, 29 wins, undefeated in region play prior to last night, wins over 4 teams that advanced to the sweet 16 etc. Central executed a nice game plan, and when it got tight late BG looked like a team who hasn't done it in a while - because they haven't. Having seniors who have experienced winning that game, even with little or no PT, makes a difference. Central got arguably Kade's best game of his season going 6/7 from 3 and BG scored just 3 points in the fourth quarter to lose in OT. Bounce of the ball here or there and maybe it goes the other way. But you can't take anything away from WC. They capitalized on BG's naivety and as I said earlier, appeared to want the game more.
  3. No other way to put it, shocking loss for BG. Probably rivals the 2011 collapse for me. Played with their food up 9 in the 3rd then forgot how to play the final 12 minutes of the game. WC seemed to want it more. Congratulations to the Dragons.
  4. Final. Warren Central 64 Bowling Green 57. Shocking upset in the 4th region. Dragons head back to Rupp for the 3rd straight year.
  5. Lightning fast first half. Over in 25 minutes. Refs letting them play a bit. Central has hit about 5 triples themselves as both teams shooting it well.
  6. Agree with @DragonFire. I don't think there is any chance this game is played in the 70's. Central will sit in their 3/2 matchup zone and try to slow the pace. This game in particular between these two in the past have generally been played in the 50's/60's. The script has flipped from last season as now it's Bowling Green who is 3-0 on the year and the favorites with everything to lose and Central who can play loose with no pressure. Last year's final proved to be the Dragons biggest scare of the postseason and I won't be shocked if this one is another classic. I see BG pulling it out late 58-51.
  7. The best rivalry in the state squares off again tonight for all the marbles in Diddle Arena. The Purples have beaten the Dragons 3 times this year, but this is the only one that matters. Who punches their ticket to Rupp Arena? Tip-off is set for 6:00 pm central time and will be broadcasted at the link below. - Sporting Times (stfanclub.com)
  8. District tournament winners will play district tournament runners-up from a different district. Can't have the same districts on the same side of the bracket. Reason why BG and WC can only meet in the finals every year.
  9. A win on Friday night would mark BG's 12th district crown in 17 seasons and 9 of the last 11.
  10. Final from South Warren High School. Purples punch their ticket to Diddle Arena.
  11. I have never heard of it either. Almost sounds fictional. Off the top off my head, I believe 7 played at some level at BG high and 2 left following their 8th grade seasons at BGJHS.
  12. Strange situation unfolding in the 14th district. As of yesterday, two BGHS sophomores have transferred from Bowling Green and enrolled at Warren Central. Both have seen minimal varsity minutes this season, but enough for 1 to burn their eligibility for a year. I say strange because one of the transfers is the son of a current Bowling Green assistant coach. This marks the 3rd mid-season transfer from BG to Central in the last 2 seasons. Warren Central now has 9 former Purples currently in their program.
  13. Didn’t get to watch this one but sounded like a whale of a game. Travis Perry finishes with 46 points. Purples had a couple looks in regulation and OT but couldn’t pull out the win. BG was down 13 and half and battled back. Good to see after a lackluster performance the night prior against rival Warren Central.
  14. Well said @DragonFire a pretty abysmal watch with 2 teams who couldn’t buy a basket outside of 4 feet. Never had the feel of a true BG/Central game both from an atmosphere and intensity standpoint. WC doesn’t want to play BG in an up and down game, so I thought they did a great job dictating the tempo. Can WC beat BG in a game played in the high 60s or 70s? I’m not sure. They absolutely can beat the Purples if the game is played in the 40s like it was last night. I’m not sure if Kade will ever get to 100% this season, but have to think he will have more than 6 points in the game that matters. Central sat in their drop 3-2 zone for most of the game and this seemed to bewilder the Purples offensively. Bottom line, if BG plays like the team they are capable of and have shown flashes of this season, I’m not sure WCs best can match them. If they play like they have in the first 2 meetings between these two, the door is wide open.
  15. Will be streamed for free at the link below: - Sporting Times (stfanclub.com)
  16. Great stuff as always @DragonFire. I didn't realize it until reading your write-up that WC has only played 16 games to this point and finish out with 7 games in 18 days, nearly half the number of games they've played for the year. With Kade's clear limited injury restriction, do you see this stretch as a positive or negative for the Dragons? Would they benefit from resting Kade or getting him more game time to get right?
