UK returns almost everyone, and yet, on the UK threads some posters (LSURock comes to mind) don't think that returning most of your players means that you will improve over this year... You don't see me predicting who will be ranked where next year. I also recall that the threads that I commented on were when UK fans started claiming 7, 8 or 9 wins next year. Beating LSU, UT, UF and UofL etc. Thats when I commented and only then. On another thread I posted that UK should finish this season ranked, you could look it up.
January 2, 200719 yr Watching the game and USC the past few seasons, it is apparent the talent level at USC is far better than anywhere else. USC will most likely return to the title game next season, imo. I can agree with this one 100%.

I have yet to understand why everyone raves about Michigan's "zone blocking" scheme (referring to analysts)? Every single team in college and in the pros use a zone blocking scheme. Defenses are too advanced and confusing to do anything otherwise these days. When I went to camp at UM (late 90s), they were teaching zone schemes at that time. The reason USC made it look foolish was simply because they were better.

If Pete Carrol had that offensive line with Mike Hart and was playing againt USC's front 7 he would have had plenty of success running the football.

Michigan was awful at the one reason you run what they do. LBs were running free downhill with zero resistance. Pitiful game for the O Line...

Great coaches will come up with game plans and add new wrinkles and have their team prepared mentally and physically. Both UM and SC had reasons to be jacked...USC to prove their performance versus UCLA was a fluke and UM to prove voters they were jobbed. I think it is clearly evident that Pete Carroll did a whole heck of a lot better job of preparing his team mentally and instituting a game plan. UM couldn't run or stop the SC pass rush.

January 2, 200719 yr Both teams looked offensively inept in the first half, ( oh, that's right it was great defense). In the second half (29-15 USC) the defenses suffered and it became apparent that USC has been forced to use the pass all season while Michigan's passing game which is decent has been plan "B" most of the season because in their league nobody could stop plan "A" often enough. Thank goodness they didn't get the rematch.

Because USC sends a linebacker on 75% of defensive snaps. They force you to zone block on run downs to set up play-action.
