Thank you, Striker. I have been wanting to say the same thing for 2 days now. I hate myself for it, but I do feel sorry for him. I keep trying to tell myself that pity is undeserved as he had no pity for the countless men, women and children he was responsible for killing. Yet, I can't help it. Like you, I don't know why I feel that way.

Make it three. I try to get myself excited saying that he deserved it, which he does, but its no different than the crimes he committed. I cant imagine how he felt. He's a human, no matter what he done. Im not defending his actions at all. They were heinous, but I've got weird mixed feelings right now.

I don't think there is anything wrong with either of you feeling (or expressing) pity for him. As a matter of fact, I would say that it speaks highly for both of you, in terms of your humanity.

Of course, I say this as a dyed in the wool proponent of the death penalty, and absolutely no remorse at his death - whatsoever.

It's human nature to place yourself in the person's shoes in seeing something like that. But it's not right to say that it's no different than the heinous crimes he committed. This was the just application of punishment, based on due process of law. His crimes were the acts of a mad man. No comparison.

I have to say after seeing his final moments I do feel some pity for him. How would Hussien compare to Hitler or Stalin?

Whats the over/under on how long it takes for the full coverage video of the hanging to surface on the net ?

Already there.

Already there.

Link?

I too felt strangely sorrowful when the world was waiting for 10:00 p.m. EST. when Suddam would be hanged. I cringe at the thought of the man, any man, dying and not knowing the Lord. Ofcourse he could have committed himself while in jail, but I don't get any peace in my heart when I think about that. It was said that he argued with guards just prior to being taken to the gallows, but then became oddly calm. Some may say he doesn't deserve God's grace, but then again, who among us does?

Link?

I'll pass on sharing the link. Not sure if its appropriate.

google video Saddam Hussein hanging.

It's there

The world does not need to froth at the death of anyone. Seeing one person

die is just as bad as any other, even if the case of the execution is warranted.

I still haven't seen the whole video and I don't plan to; such things are not

for me. Punishment in accordance with the law is needed, but excitement

over such an event, no matter how heinous the convicted, is not.

I'm sure by now everybody has seen the entire video of saddam's execution. If you havent seen the entire video, send me a pm and I'll send you the website where you can see the full video.

I feel no sorrow for Saddam. He got what he deserved, he didnt deserve to live. I do question the hanging however, especially the decision to record it. A lot of people are outraged by this and I worry that many more American soldier's will die because of his death. I worry about the radicals and how they will retaliate against the United States and our people.
