I'm not qualified to answer that either.  I was hoping somebody knew more about SW than I did.  Maybe someone who saw both teams play.

Maybe. I haven’t seen them play but I still have folks in BG that keep me posted on SW.  The folks I know were concerned about Woodford’s weapons.   

Their defense is just as good as Boyle’s if not better. For me that is more important.  I’m not certain Freddy D will be able to score many times on SW’s defense.  SW has proven they have the athletes to get the job done.

Absolutely not. Boyle County's offense is definitely better than South Warren's. Boyle County is a much better overallteam than South Warren too. I would take Boyle County all day long head-to-head.

I don't want to get too far off topic here but what do you think of LCA vs. Boyle or SW?

I don't know anything about LCA so I'm not qualified to speak to what they have. Schedules tell the tale. If you properly evaluate schedules and instead of wins then you can form a pretty good idea.

To me Boyle, St. X and Male are the top 3 overall teams in the state. In whatever order.

 

South Warren probably falls into that next tier of 3 or 4 teams.

Not many teams, have the luxury of a 5 year starting QB. Can you imagine, if Dunn reclassified and came back.

That's exactly right. And it makes a big difference. I believe he's 19 years old.

FD had a very impressive win against Owensboro. I think this was probably the first good team that they have played and beaten this season. I wasn't expecting this much of a blowout. They will definitely be ready to play on Saturday. 

SW dominated WC Friday night, beyond anyone's expectations. They really surprised the jackets. WC was not ready for what the Spartans brought.

This week, I think the game will be different for both teams. I do not see a blowout happening. I think it will be within 2 touchdowns for sure.

I think this game will come down to the passing game for both teams. FD will not have much success on the ground. Their O-line isn't as big or as talented as WC'S and South shut them down pretty easily this week. SW's D-line will have a few sacks and probably 8-10 tackles for loss.  They will have to put a tremendous amount of pressure on FD's QB. If he has time to pass to Key often, then South will be in trouble. The Spartan secondary will probably give up a few big plays. The real question is how well Conyers and Bell can cover the highly talented FD receivers for an entire game. For SW, passing is also key. Veltkamp is as talented as Lanter. I would say that South's receivers are as good as Boyle's or better. Unfortunately, I don't think that the Spartan O-line is as good as Boyle's. If they can hold off the FD rush and give Veltcamp time, South will put up big numbers in the air.

In the end, I think FD just won't be able to handle South's defense and balanced offense. I expect the Spartans to win 34-20

I will never pick against any team that has Chuck Smith as a coach!!  And with two Smiths, well…

I'll take South Warren by two scores. I've surprised even myself at how easy that pick was. The perception of 5A has been reshaped over the last few weeks more so than maybe any other class. There's pre-Boyle Douglass and there's post-Boyle Douglass. Pre-Boyle Douglass was close to being a consensus pick to win 5A. The loss to the Rebels brought it all back to earth.

It shouldn't be lost on anyone that SW's coach is one of the g.o.a.t. quarterbacks in Boyle County history and Boyle's g.o.a.t. coach is currently on the SW staff. That's a potentially ominous subplot hanging over this game for Douglass. 

I don't look for a blowout, because the Broncos have the pieces to make plays against South's defense that no one else in 5A has. But SW's screws on both sides of the ball are nice and tight. I think they'll keep Douglass at arm's length. It'll be tough sledding for FD running the ball. If they're forced to be completely one dimensional, Cornett could be under constant pressure from Jackson and Co. It's a good recipe for turnovers and short fields.

South Warren handedly. 

South Warren will win this game. In my opinion FD's biggest issues are inconsistency on the OL and inconsistency at the QB position.  

If FD comes into this game thinking they've already won it like WC did it will be over quick for them.
