Douglass was put into 6A when they opened just because of the other city schools were 6A and that was by far the smallest class. Their first year they played 6A they had only 847 students boys and girls in the entire school. They had I believe 982 the 2nd year. When reclassified for the 2019 season they were originally going to be in 4A but the KSHAA failed to count 92 boys from the Carter G. Woodson Academy that bumped them up to 5A in 2019 they were one of I think the 10 smallest schools in 5A but now they will be borderline of a large 5A or a smaller 6A. They are still the smallest public high school in Lexington.

Do what? ?? OK, sorry we didn't win 5A two years in a row to satisfy your winning expectations. Lost in the title game, and then in the 4th round.  We DEFINITELY squandered all that talent and opportunity by 8 points.

I don’t follow FD, but when I do they lose. Whether it’s by by 27 or 8.

Let me apologize to St. X fans, that wasn't in good taste, maybe one or two many adult drinks and that sounded good at the time. But that was a jab at @LongTimeReader and I forget ppl may take real offense to sarcasm/humor. I hope we finally get to meet the Tigers on the field scrimmage or regular season

Double digit D1 recruits, maybe the rest of the world expects you win something by now? Although D1 recruits are obviously the products of combines and camps now and nothing to do with on the field performance. More about height than winning. We have seen over and over again that college recruiters don't care about whether you're a winner. Ask Calipari about that. It's true in football too.

That's the point exactly.  Play cupcakes all season and finally play a "equivalent team" and lose.  What does that do, but give a false sense of reality.  Schedule a decent season...does no good to win all your games, even the forfeits and loose early in playoffs.  

FD would be average at best in NKY. 

One thing that is for sure, kids that get D1 scholarships are not always the best players. They are players that have the most potential to do well at the college level. There are tons of kids playing in Kentucky that put D1 players to shame on the field, yet don't get any big offers. So just because FD is loaded with D1 talent doesn't necessarily mean they're the most talented or the best coached.

D1 players are ALWAYS the most talented players on the field. And FD is always the most talented team on the field unless playing T or similar. However, in football how the team plays as one is much more important than individual talent. Which points back to the coaching as the only possible explanation for FD’s struggles.

You must be watching a lot of different games than me. I know for a fact that D1 players get outplayed often. I know for a fact that D1 players don't have the best stats. There are plenty of non D1 players that I would choose to have on my team before I picked the guy with the offer.

I think a lot of what you see comes down to scheme and over all team play when that happens. You really think college coaches are offering the guys they don’t think are the best? Or that that can’t tell? There are obviously exceptions from time to time, but for the most part kids get offers because of outstanding individual talent, that doesn’t always though equal great teams.

Actually, I do think that. D1 coaches have told me that. Recruiters have told me that.. If a kid is too small, he won't get an offer, regardless of his talent. Often a coach will extend an offer because of a kid's size as long as he's decently talented. I've seen players that have done nothing during a season, but performed amazing at camps and been offered based solely on that.
