If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. I completely understand your point, and I even understand not taking the game on late notice due to losing points in the RPI and possibly losing home field advantage with a loss, but I am a firm believer than iron sharpens iron. If you aren't being tested week in and week out due to the scheduling constraints that they have, I feel like you have to take the opportunities when they come.

I hear you. I’m just saying Male and Trinity and sometimes St. X are all different animals.  It’s a waste of time for most KY schools to play these schools with a week of prep time.  I’m in the camp that Freddy D learns nothing from that game with less than two days prep time.  I think they get more out of taking a thumping from Boyle County than they would from Male.  I don’t see what they can learn from Male putting a running clock on them by the half.

I like to give all teams one game a year that you can throw out and in Freddie D's case it would be the Boyle game.  However, I do think Male would have beat up on the Broncos but that isn't all bad.

I don't disagree that Male would have won the game, and probably won the game going away, but barring injuries I think that the game vs. Boyle could have been very different because FD would have already been humbled. In the end, FD probably did what was best for the program in avoiding a loss and dropping in the RPI due to it, but it would have been fun to see how they stacked up at the time before we knew they were capable of being humbled the way that they were.

There is a reason I didn’t have the ranked as the top team in Lexington for most of the year. It finally became evident once they played a great opponent.

This is a great post! It really hurts them that the Fayette County superintendent requires them to play all other Fayette Co public schools. That is good for no one.
