And since we are bringing facts to the argument -- as someone already stated -- Beechwood didn't go for two -- bad snaps and pressure some times cause a team to scramble around and have to make a football play. Is it Beechwood's fault that NCC gave good pressure? Or forced a slow snap? But--I guess it is Beechwood's fault that, when the holder ran around for 11.2 seconds -- he just happened to throw the ball to one of the two Beechwood players standing by their selves in the endzone. 

So fire at will -- but at the end of the day -- if I were an NCC fan -- I would be a little more worried about how we are going to win with "championship football" in Class A -- when we give teams free points -- and leave big tall dudes standing in the endzone all by their selves on PAT's.

I understand 70 is a subjective number but I have been consistent that I draw the line at 69.

Yes -- you have. And this post, while quoting you, is/wasn't meant as a shot in your direction. No harm/bad thoughts intended there. When I read that a few weeks ago--I liked your logic and I felt where you were coming from. I truly believe there is a difference as you stated. So again, no bad thoughts there. 

I did mean to shed a little light as to a few things that happened -- meaning NCC made a few intentional decisions that directly contributed to 70 total points. If I were an NCC fan -- I would be more interested in the points that were intentionally given up -- then the ones that were scored honestly, on the first field by the first team up until the 2nd series of the 2nd half -- and the rest that were scored by 2nd, 3rd, 4th string Beechwood players.

We can get in the gray area (because clearly a subjective number in a case like this is gray area to begin with) but maybe NewCath said to themselves, you wanna score 70, that's on you Beechwood.

I got you now gbballfan21, you mean when NCC was backed up and took the safety to stay up 7 to 5.  No, that doesn't change my mind about anything.

Running clock started at 11:30 of the 3rd quarter when Beechwood scored to go up 48-7.

On the possession right after that, New Cath fumbled on their own 30 yard line. Beechwood scored quickly on the short field to make it 54-7. Second team into the game for Beechwood.

Next possession, New Cath first team still in, 3 and out, forced to punt. The snap goes over the punter's head into the end zone for a safety. Beechwood now leads 56-7.

Next possession, New Cath forced to punt, 3 and out.

Beechwood ball at their own 48. Second team offense in the game. Riegler runs 52 yards on the first play for a TD. Beechwood does not have a back up placekicker. The JV went for 2 in their games. JV in this game goes for 2, doesn't make it. Beechwood now leads 62-7.

New Cath again quickly forced to punt. Beechwood second team offense proceeds to work on running out the clock using a variety of backs. No passes. All runs. But Beechwood's second team is very good. They are getting 5 and 10 yards a carry. They score with 1:37 left. No back up kicker. They go for 2 and make it. Final score 70-7.  

 

Beechwood just tried another 2 point conversion.

You are going after the NCC women now!!?? ?

It will never happen because it is WAY to subjective, but I was always in favor of a moving running clock.  If the game officials and both coaches know at 21-0 or so that its not going to be a competitive game, start the running clock.   Would stop outrageously lopsided scores.

? Yeah, I know. It actually is funny when I think back on it. But sharing facts from one of many first hand experiences at New Cath games over the years. I got cussed out by a Grandma Bred at a New Cath game a few years ago. I mean she lit me up over what I thought was a pretty innocuous comment. I have seen much worse at New Cath games in the stands. But you are probably right. Every team has fans that are over the top.

I think we need to rethink high school sports in Kentucky, but that is for another thread.
