I couldn’t watch it.  I kept logging in but it kept kicking me out. So I just listened to it on Beechwood’s radio station.

The play calling at Dixie is consistently puzzling.

I know Dixie lost to Cooper and Covington Catholic, but looking at the players on the field Dixie is the best team Beechwood has played. They have very good talent and experience in every position group. QB Landers is an excellent player and is a dual threat. Holbert and Hawkins have speed to burn. Rohlman runs the ball hard. The line play is very good. I was impressed with Dixie. I had to go look at that Covington Catholic game to see how in the world they beat Dixie 24-8 and there it was - 3 turnovers by Dixie. I always say a turnover in a close game is worth 7 points on the scoreboard. 

In the Beechwood game, Dixie was flawless. They didn't turn it over - although Beechwood had a couple opportunities for interceptions that they didn't come up with. They made some key plays in crucial situations. They recovered the most perfectly executed onside kick I have ever seen. The ball bounced perfectly up into the yard exactly at the ten yard spot and a Dixie player jumped up to get it right at 10 yards. Yet, in spite of playing that well they still could not beat Beechwood. That is a testimony to the talent and confidence of the Tigers. 

This is exactly why Beechwood schedules games like this. They traveled to a talented 6A top ten level team and beat them on their home field. Beechwood was pushed to dig deeper than they have all year and they met the challenge.

Come on…. CCH crushed Dixie 28-6, would have been 28-0 if not for a late 4th quarter KO return. Maybe Beechwood just had a down game or didn’t match up as well with Dixie as other teams, but no need to talk up Dixie as such a great team just because Beechwood didn’t blow them out.

Crush? The "would have been" scores are low hanging fruit. If you ask the Cov Cath coaches when they felt comfortable in that game they will tell you not until the fourth quarter. Dixie has had some success at all three phases of the game this season. It wasn't until this week that they had it all in one game. They just ran into a really good Beechwood team. Beechwood may have been exposed a bit last night. If you match up well with Beechwoods athletes you can force Hergott to run the ball. Good luck containing him, but he cannot consistently take hits all season and I hope Beechwood can find a little more balance getting others the ball. Good news for the tigers is their schedule favors that happening.

They seem to move the ball well enough the last two weeks to sustain drives. I think the play calls were dictated by the penalties Dixie’s offense had levied against them. I do question the two deep shots late because I think all Dixie needed was a first down. Such a good team consistently shooting itself in the foot. Hats off to Beechwood they dug deep and held on. Any team that faces Beechwood has their hands full. Dixie’s gritty performances of late sets up an interesting 6A tilt in two weeks when Ryle comes calling.

Just going by what I saw in the Beechwood games versus CCH and Dixie. Dixie played Beechwood much, much more difficult than CCH.

Agreed. Beechwood came into this game averaging 41 points a game, and only allowing 6 (prior 5 game average). About a solid an effort you are going to get. Beechwood showed they can handle adversity, and Dixie showed they can hang with the best.

I wouldn't argue that at all.... Just don't think we can say Dixie is the best team Beechwood has played. A couple other people on here mentioned Dixie play calling. I can confirm that it was really strange in the game against CCH as well. Not that it would have changed the outcome, but there are definitely more than a few head scratchers from coach Brossart.

Talent on the field, I take Dixie's roster over Cov Cath's. They have a great group of seniors.

Dixie definitely has more talent on the field than CCH. No argument from me on that one.

Coach Brossart calls the same 3 or 4 pass plays and the same 3 or 4 running plays and thats his entire game plan, or lack thereof. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. As a football program and as a school, Dixie is historically very accepting of mediocrity. I can only assume they all have Bengals and Reds season tickets too.

I was more than impressed with BW’s Mitchell Berger helping stretch a Dixie player on the field as he was cramping up. Class act.
