Cooper had the week off this past Friday after starting off their season 3-1 with wins over George Rogers Clark, Dixie Heights and Campbell County and a 14-7 loss to Ryle. Senior quarterback Drew Warth has started off the season with a solid 39-63 (62%) passing for 540 yards and 3 touchdowns, while running backs Brendon Tye and Eli White have combined for an average 165 yards and 2 touchdowns per game on the ground. The Jag's offense is averaging over 330 yards per game, while the defense, led by sophomore linebackers Jack Lonaker & Lucas Hughes, has only allowed an average 165 total yards per game.

Covington Catholic comes into the game with a 2-3 record, with losses to Elder (OH), Lex Cath and Beechwood, and wins over Belfry and Dixie Heights. The Colonels' offense is averaging about 260 yards per game, 35% pass and 65% run, with starting quarterback Adam Holtz coming out of the first half of the season at 39-77 (51%) passing for 441 yards and 4 touchdowns. Senior running backs Reid Hummel and Brayden Collins combine for about 90 yards per game on the ground, while quarterbacks Adam Holtz and Preston Agee add another 55 yards on the ground. The Colonels defense has allowed an average 269 yards per game and is led in tackling by linebackers David Sullivan and Aiden Jones.

Looking at the series record, this one has been all Colonels....literally. Since they first played in the 2017 regular season, Cov Cath has won each of the 6 football games between the two schools, with an average margin of victory of 38.5 points. The Jags have never scored more than 8 points in a game against Cov Cath, a stat I think we may see change this Friday in Park Hills.

Teams share one opponent in common in Dixie Heights. Cooper beat the red Colonels 19-10 on Aug 27, and Cov Cath beat the red Colonels two weeks later 24-8.

This will be a fairly close game and I would say Cooper may actually have the edge this year but I may be wrong.

I have seen Cov Cath twice now and I still believe they can "break out of that shell" and I still think they are a good team. Now will that translate to a deep run into the playoffs, if they fix their offense a bit.

Cov Cath wins by 14. Historically good teams find a way to get the job done in games like this. 

Will coach Eviston show anything against Cooper? Meaning will he show his Cards or still hold them for the match up in a few weeks with Highlands. I say CCH plays each game like it's their last. Can't hold anything back this year. Sounds like CCH isn't as strong as years past, or are they laying low in the Weeds? I think CCH wins this one.

CovCath 17-7. I still think we’re pretty good defensively at full strength. Assuming Cooper doesn’t have a Drew Ramsey or Cam Hergott level player, I think we come out on top. 

I’ve seen 3 CCH games and they lost all three. I’ve already excepted the fact by week 3 that CCH was not that great of team this year and could  be 5-5 on the year. My overall grade of the team is around a C-

Offense gets a C-

Special Teams gets a F

Defense gets a B

For this game I will take CCH just because Cooper has never beaten us but it could be a first time for anything and it could be this year for Cooper.
