The annual rivalry game is back once again, although Tilghman hasn't held up their end of making this a legit rivalry in recent years.

15 years to be exact. Tilghman's last victory was 18-15 back in 2005. Mayfield leads the all time series 51-46-10.

Mayfield's average margin of victory during this impressive streak has been just over 17 points with an average score of 32.86-15.53. Most of these games haven't been exactly close.

Mayfield will once again be the favorite, as they rightly should, but I do believe Tilghman presents a much better matchup this season as they aren't one dimensional any longer and can impress through the air and on the ground.

Mayfield is Mayfield and absolutely punish you for mistakes, which Tilghman has made way too many of through 2 games. It's imperative for the Tornado to cut down on a multitude of special teams blunders to have a chance in this one.

Could Tilghman win #800 and break the 15 game losing streak on the same night? Not making the amount of errors they have in the previous games. A fairly clean game, I think they do present a few problems.

The atmosphere around this one is so fun for both schools and there's nothing but respect from the Tornado side towards the Cardinals for what they've been able to accomplish.

  • To be honest, I thought you had a really good coach last year

  • Pretty good quality, visually.  I would like for the guys calling the game to use player names (instead of nicknames, which I don't know), as well as add in some down/distance and game information alo

No way I can pick against Mayfield in this game, I love the way PT has looked so far this year but Mayfield is still Mayfield.

I’m picking the Cardinals to win again, but I’m not expecting a running clock victory like last year. PT ALWAYS has athletes…gotta respect their speed and ability. Mayfield wins 28-14

Tilghman will score more than in the past, 28-27 Tilghman.

Not this year for PT. They turn the ball over too many times and Mayfield makes you pay for that. They can win, but it’s unlikely.

With that said, unless PT implodes over the next two years, I believe this streak will be over either next year or the next, but just not this year.

I think one of the biggest overlooked aspects for the most part of this losing streak is the ever revolving carousel of coaches during that time for Tilghman.

I think we've got a good one and he's plenty young enough to put a lot of years in. I just hope it works out that way. It seems like the kids had to learn way too many new things every season to ever even come close to perfecting anything.

We certainly envy the continuity they have over in Mayfield and it definitely makes a difference.

Very good point. You guys have had as many coaches in the last 10 years as we have had in our entire 30 year or so existence.

I think Mayfield should win this game, but something tells me to go against the grain on this one.  Not sure why so I'll say PT - 21  Mayfield 20.

PT will honor Allan Cox at the game. Well deserved!

Since Cox left in 1993 PTHS has had 9 head coaches in 28 years. Mayfield has had 2. Consistency is the story for the last 2 decades.

I think PT will start their own streak beginning next year if all the stories are true about the younger grades. For now i think the Cards get the win on Friday.

Yes, a lot of people, including myself, thought that Coach Smith would finally be that "20 plus" year guy we've all been looking for.

He was an even better administrator at the school. It seemed to be lined up so perfectly. It's unfortunate how it all ended up.

The streak has to break sooner or later.  I think PT has as good a chance this year as any.  The fact that they are throwing the ball better than they have in a long time is a huge boost.  They will need to be able to throw the ball to beat Mayfield.  They have been able to score well this year, but they haven't been able to lean on their run game.  They have given up quite a few points this year as well.

I saw Mayfield play Graves in person, but couldn't make the Hoptown game and watched it later on Facebook Live.  They impressed me with their toughness last week.  They played solid defense, did some bending but never broke, and their red zone defense really stood out.  They ran the ball well on offense, and the Mayfield QB finally hit on some deep passes for touchdowns.  It was nice to see him pull the trigger and let it fly.  His confidence seems to be growing some.  On the flipside, if he doesn't hit those two long touchdowns, then its a 7-3 score.  Due to a lack of quick scoring (like most years past), Mayfield has to continue to capitalize on possessions and opportunities.  They had two scores called back in that game I believe.

Obviously Mayfield has the edge, but PT is showing signs of an overall attitude change within the program and are trending up.  I think it hasn't been hard for anyone to see, that if PT gets the right captain steering the ship, they will be a tough out for anyone.
