From what I saw rewatching the broadcast Owensboro first TD came off a really bad under thrown pass they returned for a TD.

FD had another bad turnover on their next possession and I assuming Owensboro scored on that too. The broadcast skips over the entire first half after that basically. So I have no idea what happens.

Turnovers are killers!!!  And BG has had their fair share of those as well.

Hopefully Cooper can get some good QB run plays inside and outside to help wear down the defense. He's a super threat running the ball.

Bunton has to get going, but he's always ran the ball well so I expect more of the same. Hopefully we can get the passing game going even if it is short passes. That will open the running game even more. Got to help Bunton out.

Defense just needs to keep doing what they are doing. Gotta contain the QB and that worries me cause sometimes our middle seems to be open.

Should be a good game. If BG plays well then they should control the game.

28-14 is my prediction.  Let's go!  Hope the broadcast is good and has no issues.

This is the most exciting game of all the finals in my opinion. 

The turnovers BG has forced against SW (8) and then CovCath (6) are outstanding.  That is unbelievable vs top 5A teams.

I will say that Owensboro secondary had very good coverage on Freddie as well.  The 2 picks were step for step with Crowdus and Key.  Really O had 2 more picks with great step for step coverage that Key just manhandles away.  Owensboro defense can make plays.   They had 2 sacks and 4 TFL against Freddie due to their speed.   I think they have got to play like they did 1st half against Freddie D.  Stop the run and force them to pass and use their very good secondary and linebackers.  For Owensboro to win the Defense has to play great - I think they are capable.  Protect the ball on offense.  Owensboro ideal situation is to get a score or 2 early and play good field position and get a little conservative.  Don't force throws that aren't there, use Wimsatt's legs and short passing game when needed.  Both teams need no motivation and I know they are both going to come out hitting.

I'm really interested to see who Owensboro has covering Dingle.  They will likely double him.  But if one of those guys is SR All-State LB Gough then who is focusing on Bunton?

Will be interesting to watch the chess match there!

I"m guessing Nickel back with help from OLB.  Maybe Goodwin, who is 6-2 and very fast (OLB/DE) or Clark (Nickel)  I would guess Gough will be ready to meet him over the middle as well.  Backup Nickel is Pendleton - good athlete, 6-4 (He will be moving to WR next year IMO).

@Purple88 I want to elaborate that it will not be an easy task dealing with Dingle, but I think Gough's primary focus and the defense is Bunton and Cooper out of the backfield.  Make Cooper throw, keep the WR's in front of you and try to create some turnovers and maybe defensive TD's or good field position.  None of that is easy, Bunton and Cooper are tough out of the backfield.  I would say Bunton job 1, Cooper job 1a, keeping Burwash, Dingle limited job 1c.  very tough assignments, but Bunton and Cooper can hurt you the most.

Do you think they will run a two safety look to keep someone over the top of Dingle?

Owensboro plays a nickel package really most of the time.  This usually means 2 safeties, 1 on each side.  If you have 5 WR's, then the safety will move over to "cover" that extra receiver, but he is still deep.  They may drop back into zone or go man, but if you are running 3 WR's with Dingle and Bunton, the 2 safeties play "over the top".  Carbon and McHenry are the safeties, good and fast.  If you get in a 3rd in long, Owensboro will sometimes go to cover 3.  At least they did against Freddie D.

It looks like on film that BG brings 4 and drops 7 - is that typical?  I'm guessing they may play with rushing 3 and dropping 8 or blitzing off the corner.  Or do you guys think kthey will rely on their front 4 to bring the heat?

Yup, sometimes they drop 8 and just bring pressure with their Nose 4 and 5. But the anchor can either drop or be a pure edge rusher. I think they'd be smart with dropping 8 to keep those wide outs contained a bit. But, if Gavin and his oline can resist pressure from Bg's Dline you may see an adjustment to just get after the quarterback. BG also likes to loop and twist their Dline to mess up protection schemes.
