The 4 seed pulls the upset. East scored on the final play of the third quarter to make it 19-7 and never looks back.

The Raiders struggled much of the year, but knocked off Logan County to close the year, and it was a sign of things to come. A lot of momentum on East’s side. 
 

This was Warren East’s first road playoff win ever.

When was the last 4 over 1 upset?

Russell County beat them 49-12 earlier in the season.  Incredible !!

 

Russell County has just never had any success at all in the playoffs.  Congrats Warren East.  

Happy for the Raiders. They start 8 freshman who have come to age over the last couple of weeks. They have athletic senior skill players that make it tough to match up if in space. 
It’ll be interesting next week with Allen.

In 4A, looks like you have to go back to 2010 when Holmes fell to West Jessamine. 
 

I feel like there was usually at least one a year when they were cross bracketing, but I’m guessing it’s been almost nonexistent the years they play within the district.

Southwestern beat Pulaski County in the 1st round last season in 5A as a #4 seed.  

Hard loss for Russell County!  Had home field and a path to make it deep in the playoffs.  

Wow! Great win for Warren East and a tough loss for Russell County. Goes to show how much a team can improve over a season. 

It seems like we see one of these every year, a team wins big in the regular season and then loses to the same team in the playoffs.
