letabrotherspeak
Parents of three freshman met with the Arkansas AD over the offense being employed at Arkansas. Hilarious. Dang near win the SEC, dang near get a BCS berth, and had a Heisman contender and some parents are unhappy. One of the three frosh is leaving and Mustain was reportedly leaving but he reported for practice today. http://www.wholehogsports.com/adg/175675/
TheDeuce
Wait, wait, wait... Parents (high school is over) of freshmen (they don't get a say) are complaining to the coaches about the offense being run?? I'll have to agree with Labs....Hilarious.... gametime
So his mom now doesn't like what the guy that coached her son in high school and got him to Arkansas is doing. Sounds about right. Wait...

Watusi
After reading the article, I thought the meeting/questions were legitimate and I don't blame them for asking them, but they should have been directed at the coaching staff instead of the AD. All 3 players played for Coach Malzahn in high school last season. Arkansas hired Coach Malzahn to be OC and told all 3 players that he would have full control of the O and would be running his own offense. 2 of the 3 switched their committments to Arkansas after that revelation. The 3 players are a QB and two WR, and Arkansas employed a more run oriented offense during the season leaving the trio wondering about what they were promised during the recruiting. This is deeper than just a parent trying to control what happens on the field, it seems they are just evaluating if Arkansas is the place to send their kids and would their talents be better utilized elsewhere. They wanted some confirmation on what the direction of the offense is going to be. Their quotes didn't sound whiney to me.

STRIKE3
When the inmates, have the perception they can run the asylum....problems like this happen. Any player that goes to college, wants to play, get significant minutes and be an intregal part of the scheme....sometimes the team success, doesn't seem to be as important, as the individual success....which bothers me. Arkansas employed an offense this season that played to their strength and that's running the football. They had the best running back in college football; what should they do, let Mitchy throw it around forty times per game? I thought you could always say that at least college coaches didn't have to hear parents fussing to them. Especially parents of freshmen. Apparently that can't be said now, either. If I were Houston Nutt, I'd think long and hard about sending them packing.

The article, to me, says that "as parents, we're not sure the Arkansas system will make our kids look good enough to get into the NFL." Shouldn't they be gently reminded that their kids are FRESHMEN! Just because the offensive style leans one way one season, doesn't mean it can't change. Most coaches will play to their strengths. This season it was running the ball; next year it could be throwing.

Seems more and more, not just in Football but college seems to be a temporary stopping ground or an inconvenience, before turning pro....let the players play, coaches coach and parent pay to watch them both! pnthr4life
If you're not happy then transfer. My son went through the same situation in college. The coach said they ran the ball about 60% of the time. They ran the ball about 10% of the time. My son learned how to pass block from the backfield. He stayed, he played. His decision, as it should be.
WKYfootballguy
Bill King on Rivals was eating this up this morning. Nutt says he will release any of them to play within the SEC if they wish! This could be a package deal gone very bad...with Malzone and the 3 kids. Mustain even calls Nutt a dork in the book that is coming out! I will say I didn't understand how Mustain wins 7 games in a row for the Hogs, throws and INT in the 8th game and is benched...Seemed strange? Long Time Warrior
Cut All Three!!!!!!!!!!!! This will cause nothing but trouble later on!!! If the former high school coach and now OC really told them that then shame on him. Fire him to. He shouldn't have made such a statement if he really did. Should have McFaddon told them to run more? If Smith and OSU hadn't won all their games and be in the National Championship game McFaddon may have won the H-trophy. I told you all before I seen and meet Mitch at nike camp in Oxford MS. He wasn't any more impressive that other QB there other that he was a very accurate passer. He was very thin IMO. If he and his buddy can do better somewhere else they can run the show "let them go" You'll be better off without them. There is always someone to take your place "boys" and "parents"
