Tigerpride94
St.X and Manual battling in rpi for #1 district seed. Both teams have 1 tough game left with Manual vs. Male and St. X vs. Frederick Douglass. If St.X beats PRP this Friday and Manual beats Butler, I think St.X might be able to barely pass them since PRP has slightly better record than Butler. Plus St.X has Trinity and Bowling Green winning for them where Manual only has North Bullitt winning for them. Will be interesting to see how it shakes out. Remaining games are Grayson County (.53179 RPI) , 6A Henderson County (.55095 RPI), and Breckinridge County (.39564 RPI). Owensboro looks to be heavy favorites in each of these games. I am assuming a Douglass win over Scott County, so I don't think the other teams will overtake them.

That will be a challenging opponent. You are right though. RPI heavily rewards wins above all else and those are all likely wins for Owensboro. If Scott County beats Ballard they will pick up some good points beating a quality higher class team. Grayson County is 5-1 so that would be a good RPI win for Owensboro. It will be interesting to see the impact on the RPI if both Owensboro and Scott County win this week.
Tigerpride94
Coach Wallace in St.X pregame radio interview was asked about RPI and he said it hurts teams that play tough schedules and opponent should count for more. I agree with him. Teams that play tough schedules should be rewarded more than teams that play weak schedules.

If Frederick Douglass beats Scott Co and St X later this year then they would probably be one of the top 2 teams for sure.

Holy Cross is the only team in 1A with three wins over teams class 3A or higher. That gets you first place in RPI. I am a bit surprised at New Cath being #3 in RPI with no wins over teams above 2A. Russell's RPI is being propped up by wins over a bad 5A team and middle of the pack 6A team. They're just .00002 from still being #1, despite the shellaking they took from Ashland, who's gotta be looking at these rankings like...
