The South Warren Spartans travel across town to renew one of the better rivalries in the State next Friday night.

This edition of the rivalry will be much different in that the crowd will be real small compared to the normal overflow crowd.

Both teams come in undefeated on the year with Bowling Green getting 2 road wins against ST X and PRP.  While South Warren has victories at Warren East and home vs Glasgow.

Concerning injuries, it appears South Warren comes in pretty healthy, but the Purples will be without top WR Dez Wilson who is lost for the year with an injury at PRP.  Also starting OT Littlefield will not play vs South Warren, also injured at PRP.

While I think both offensive units have been rather bland overall this year; I think a big reason for that is to not give the other much to look at on film.

BGs offense is led by Senior QB Conner Cooper, RB Javy Bunton, and TE Jordan Dingle.

South Warrens offense is led by JR QB Caden Veltcamp and JR RB Martin.

Both teams come in this game with well respected defenses and I believe they will make this game a really low scoring affair.

Bowling Green leads the all-time series 3 to 2.  Do the Purples extend that slim lead at home or do the Spartans even the series on Friday night?

South Warren’s Jantzen Dunn hasn’t played yet this season, and isn’t expected to play this game either.

Should be a great, exciting game. The injuries on the BG side could definitely hinder the Purples. Wilson is a key factor to the offense. Absolutely heartbreaking to tear an ACL during your Senior year. He’s a 3-sport athlete as well. Cooper and Wilson seem to have a great connection together.  From my understanding, they thought Cooper broke his left wrist during the PRP game sometime in the 2nd quarter. I’ve been told he IS playing against South. If not, that could be the decision maker. I was told they had 2 other injuries on defense as well.
I believe it will be a very physical game since both schools seem to start the chatter at the beginning of the year! Special teams, kickers, etc. will need to be on their best game. Any one mistake could decide this game.
Excited to watch this rivalry on Friday!

BG 28-26.

From what I saw from SW Friday and what I've seen from BG the first two games. I like the Purples a lot.

Bowling agree 28-14.

What did you see Friday that made you lean so much in BG’s favor? I’m kind  of feeling that same way for South Warren after watching the PRP game, and with their supposed injuries. I believe with both at full strength that South Warren is still the better team. I’m not saying they will definitely win though. With BG’s #1 receiver hurt, and with it being extremely tuff to run against South. I just give South Warren the edge.

What’s the reason Dunn hasn’t played?

I think Bowling Green has the best defense which gets them the win. Certainly a hit losing Dez Wilson so will need to lean more on Jordan Dingle.

I believe he has a quad injury. He probably could play, but I believe they don’t think there’s a need to rush it back right now.

Well if you've been able to watch both teams this far, it's a no brainier BG is a better team.

Now was South Warren holding back because they were playing such inferior programs?

Is Conner Cooper 100%?

Those are the two factors. But based on seeing both teams play this far, BG is an easy pick. Now how will those two factors come into play?  We shall see.

Game of the week across all classes right here. It's a shame both teams aren't at full strength, but this could still be a great one, regardless. The amount of pride on the line should be enough to keep the fire going for four quarters.

With Wilson out, I'm leaning toward SW right now. I think a healthy Veltkamp makes the difference.

Tough to gauge how good SW is since they schedule like Alabama, but I’d assume they’re still good as always.

As Killowat mentioned, Cooper and Dunn are big factors that could change the outcome of the game.  Missing Littlefield will also hurt BG as he’s a great lineman, but I still lean BG as long as the defense keeps performing the way they have.

BG 21-14

Bowling Green 34-27.

BG great defense and they’ve proved it vs St X.

BG 21-7

Can Bowling Green make the SW QB uncomfortable?   Key to the game.

Thinking, yes they can.  Purples win a close one.
