December 12, 200619 yr Colston's injury didn't help him, it should be a tight vote, Drew has been solid all season long, Young and Bush are playing very well right now, Hester doesn't get many touches but when he does he's electric.

My only point is that no football player is an island. How well you play often depends on your teammates. I agree, but some players have more impact than others. Take Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison...who is opening things up more for the other? I think it's Harrison. Wayne is a very good receiver in his own right, and with Harrison taking coverage and Manning throwing the ball, he could easily put up bigger numbers than Harrison, but he's not a better player. Same with Bush and Colston, IMO...defenses focus much more on Bush, so with his presence drawing defense and Brees throwing the ball, coupled with Colston being an unknown at the season's start, he has benefitted far more from having Bush on the field than vice versa.

He's more versatile, he gets more attention from defenses and he has more yards...add that to the fact that Bush has been a marked man from day one by opposing defenses while Colston benefitted from being an unknown for at least some of the season....Bush should get the nod between those two guys.

What I was meaning by that was with your previous statement about Bush benefiting or vice-versa, I was just saying "can't have one or the other" meaning that without Bush then Colston's stats may not have been that great and without Colston Bush's stats may not be that great. Not saying give the award to both of them! Sorry for any confusion.:thumb:
December 12, 200619 yr After reading y'alls posts, I've considered the following: 1)I love Colston, but his injury takes him off my ballot. 2)Vince Young has not been effective most of the year, only near the end. 3)Drew-Jones is another of my favorites, but honestly can't place him ahead of Bush. 4)No way a return guy gets rookie of the year unless he's also starting offense or defense. Hester is definitely out. So Reggie Bush is my final answer.
