Lot of work for this team, especially on offense.

Game of turnovers and sloppy play. This team will get better.

Utterly shocked. Not by the victor, but by the margin in which they won.

I picked McCracken.  Mayfield lost a TON! Plus Covid hurt the development of their younger guys IMO.  They will rebound, but McCracken County is a very good team.

Largest margin of defeat since the 2009 1A championship game, when LCA beat them by 36.

Any time your offense gives up more points than it scores you're going to have a bad day.  3 defensive touchdowns is a huge night for McCracken County.  Mayfield lost a ton on offense and the short preseason seemed to be a recipe for disaster tonight.  I'm sure they'll get it going by playoff time.  

Yes, Mayfield will get better. I have a lot of respect for this program. But the big take away is McCracken. They also lost key offensive players and put some youth on the field. They shut down one of the best running backs in the state. Mustangs game with Bowling Green in a few weeks will tell a lot, but this is a 6A team to watch. At least outside of Jefferson County.
