I am with you raiderbird! No Shane Israel from Lexington Catholic. He is one of the best backs in the state and has done it against good competition.

Most of Israel's gaudy stats came against weaker opponents like Western Hills, etc....he struggled mightily against X.

I will have to say some strange things always happen with this team. But just looking at the offense (first team) it's very solid this year.

This whole thing just must be a popurlarity contest because Josh Wills senior linebacker from Russell deserved better than Honorable Mention... He was the heart and soul of a defense that held the 5A 2A state champions Mercer County to only 15 points... I am not quite sure how many tackles he had but it has to be somewhere up by the 100s... this kid is a better play than that should been at least 3rd team maybe 2nd

RB is always very heavy....I follow KY HS Football very much, and am not very familiar with Israel. I would say it would be a tough sell to say he should get in over who is on the list.

He had 5 TD's in the state championship game against Bowling Green his Soph year and 100+ vs T,X, Highlands, Cov Cath etc.

Kramer and Isreal are the two biggest snubs this year IMO.

Hancock's numbers were right there with the best too.

Congrats to Coty Conley of Johnson Central for making First team, Shawn Grim and Nathanial Dials for making second team, and Blake Johnson and Micheal Tackett for getting honorable mention.

 

The only question I have is how did Ian Welch who had 15 INT's this season not make even Honorable Mention.

We don't play LexCath, except in scrimmage format...that doesn't count.

He's going to finish 1st or 2nd on Lex Cath's all time rushing list not to mention catching the ball out of the backfield. Some teams he has played: X, Scott Co, Highlands, Cov Cath, Rockcastle, Bowling Green, (Trinity in scrimmages haven't slowed him down), Harrison Co, Lex Christian etc. He runs the ball well against the big teams too. He's legit!

Why didn't Kasey Clark even get a mention at playing running back?

RB is loaded up and I think they try to keep it to one side of the ball or the other. With Beumont and Anderson being such prospects it probably hurt him there although he is a TD machine. I think the easy thing to do was give him first team on defense instead of 2nd on offense.

Chip Burke from Newcath made it over Vince Murray??? Joe Sullivan from HC makes All-State? No Kramer? Now I know there were some great players in 4A this year, and I'm not saying we had the "best" players at Ryle, but one player? I'm not asking for much, but I was pretty sure we'd have 2 somewhere between 3 teams. What a sham.........

Raceland Rams go 11-2 with a district championship and give NCC all they can handle in the regional championship and dont even get one player on honorable mention. QB Scott Grizzle had 31 passing td's 7 rushing and only 7 interceptions and doesnt even get his name on the list....thats ridiculous! And ask anybody that played the Rams about LB J.T. Forrest... if anybody should have made it for defense from the "Ashland-Area" it should have been Forrest. Just ask the TOMCATS about #51 for the Rams. But then again, the ADI would hate to give a vote to a couple kids that beat "their" team.
