April 1, 20206 yr Players can't practice until students are allowed back on campus. I think it's 50/50 right now that there will be on campus instruction this fall. If they can't go back to school.then what? Season "could" potentially start in the 2nd semester after Christmas break. Games probably played to either no crowd or restricted crowds of family only. I think there is a real chance this season is lost. What does BGP see happening?
April 2, 20206 yr I think we have football but could hand a modified schedule, possibly only conference play. Also could see no fans, some fans, or all.
April 3, 20206 yr Author UK made two announcements that may give us an idea of what's to come. 1. All summer classes will be online instruction only. (No students on campus until August at the earliest. I personally don't see them going back in August) 2. Nutter Fieldhouse (indoor practice facility) is being converted to a 400 bed temporary hospital. At this point I think there is zero chance the season starts on time and maybe only 10% chance there is fall college football.

I think we can use baseball as the litmus test.
April 4, 20206 yr No college football this year. I hate it but I’ve already accepted it. A slim chance we see college football with no crowds. The next time we see college athletics with crowds will be next basketball season IMO.
April 4, 20206 yr We are 4 months away. That’s a long time. Right now the only thing that is keeping me sane is the fact that we could have college football at the end of this. I can deal with these next 4 months. I can’t deal with no college football. Sports aren’t just a game. They mean so much more to so many people, myself included. I will see myself out of this thread because I don’t want to become depressed.
April 4, 20206 yr Unfortunately the more I'm hearing the more it is setting in that we very likely are not going to have a season. Without a vaccine, I just can't see allowing players to take the field when the end result is everyone going into a 2 week quarantine if even one player tests positive after the fact. All it would take is one player at any school and the whole thing is shut down again.

I'm afraid that January may be the soonest that we could see college sports of any kind. I don't think there will be fall on-campus classes without a medical breakthrough in either prevention or treatment. No on-campus classes, then no on campus athletes, then no practice...no games. I currently think 2nd semester is our best bet...man I hope I'm wrong.

If no CFB, that means no NFL and no public school in the fall as well right?

April 4, 20206 yr Along with no restaurants, no bars, no nothing. And before you know it we are just waiting to see which countries are moving around military units towards neighboring countries boarders.
April 4, 20206 yr NFL, NCAA, MLB, NBA, NHL, PGA, Ford, Chevrolet and so on should all be pledging large chunks of money towards research for a vaccine/treatment. Without one, they aren't making any money. Edited April 4, 20206 yr by sportsfan41 Spelling

April 4, 20206 yr If we are still completely shutdown in June, it is a complete failure by the US. Absolute total failure. South Korea has not done a shutdown at all. Are you telling me they haven't done a shutdown at all and we can't figure out how to manage the spread by August? It would be a complete disgrace to the US if we failed on that scale. We don't need a vaccine to open things up. We don't even need a proven treatment. We need plentiful, aggressive testing and then backtrack the contacts of those who test positive to catch infected people as early as possible. That is how South Korea and other places having success without shutdowns have done it. South Korea started wide scale production of testing kits in January before they even had a case. The US is chasing their tail on producing masks and still not aggressively testing because there aren't enough test kits available. I am amazed more people aren't outraged that our country cannot get this done. Right now the US handling of this whole thing is a joke.
