oldgrappler
I am not a Jazz expert by any means. I only occasionally listen to what I call "hardcore" Jazz. But I was once exposed to Joe Pass as the "greatest" Jazz guitarist and I am always amazed at his virtuosity. Here's a sample of Joe Pass playing with piano great Oscar Peterson. I don't know how it could get any better than this. They are such impeccable soloists, and yet they play together so magnificently, giving room for improvisation while maintaining synchronicity. I'll stop right there with the evaluation/compliments before my ignorance of Jazz is totally exposed. Let me just say, they know one another very well to play like that together. My challenge to you... give us a sample of your entry for whom you consider to be Jazz Masters. It can be solo artist or combo. My entry is Oscar Peterson on piano with Joe Pass on guitar.
