Coronavirus and the Airlines - Why are they still flying?

I don't think I need to explain why stuffing hundreds of people into an aluminum tube together violates every "social distancing" principle on the planet.

 

If we can't go out to eat, go to a bar, go to a gym, etc. why is it okay to get on a plane?

It shouldn't be, but certain people will continue to protect certain businesses as long as they can.

One of my kids flew to Miami late Saturday afternoon. I don't know what the passenger capacity of the plane was but he said there 14 passengers on the plane. Hard for American Airlines to make money that way.

They aren’t making a profit but they are still making money. Those flights aren’t free.
