Is there something wrong with the dog? He sleeps around 13 hours a day but will wake up at the slightest noise. Also, when he pees outside he doesn't lift his leg, all four paws are on the ground and he leans forward. He is a boy.

I'd say it's pretty normal. Unless another dog shows him the ropes he's just winging it.

 

How's his appetite? As long as he's eating and drinking water you should be fine.

I feed him 2 1/2 cups twice a day. Sometimes he eats the whole bowl in one sitting and sometimes he just snacks on it for a few hours.

 

Also, the people that gave him to me, lost his paperwork. They say he is due for one more shot. If I take him to PuppyWow or another vet will they be able to determine exactly what is needed?

That's a lot of food for 1 day. It took our Labradoodle a while to hike his leg. A dogs ears are mighty sensitive compared to ours. He will be a great dog if you set the rules and never let up and show him love. Make sure he get's to run too.

I have a 7 month old and he pees the same way. My older one did until he got around other dogs more and eventually started lifting his leg. Waiting for my youngest to learn.

 

Everything sounds normal to me. Puppies need their rest. Play hard, sleep hard, but they don't want to sleep because I assume they don't want to miss out on something.

Oh, and make sure he has many toys to chew on and chew up. That way it shouldn't be your stuff instead. A dog is man's greatest friend. It's not a myth.

Never understood it until we got out first and now we have two. Love them to pieces.

My daughter’s male pup started lifting his leg only after seeing other dogs do that at the dog park. Pretty soon he will be marking his territory and lifting his leg to pee whenever he smells that another dog peed there as well.

I can't figure out why it is sideways. But whatever, you can see him. The black fur on his forehead is considered a blemish so I got this 900 Dollar dog para nada.

 

He's already destroyed my wireless headphones.

And for what it's worth, my 11 week old English Lab sleeps probably 14-16 hours a day. She'll wake up decently easily, but she'll go back to sleep usually within 10 or 15 minutes if you leave her in her crate after she wakes up. She definitely doesn't live in the crate, but she spends a decent amount of time in there. And now she's at the point where if she is getting tired, more often than not she'll head into her crate to take a nap.

Find a a good vet that has a reputation for allowing owners to ask questions. I’ve been to some that simply wanted to cycle you in and out. My vet office now has multiple vets and is open until midnight 7 days a week. We’ve seen several vets in the office and each have been great. Most of them sit on the floor with my dog to examine her and while answering my questions. As a new pet parent, you will need a lot of advice!

In tact dogs typically start to lift their leg somewhere between 7 months and a year. However, some dogs (I've read 20%) never lift their legs ever.

 

Has he been neutered? If he has already been neutered he may never lift his leg. In fact I have seen several occasions where a dog would stop lifting their leg after being neutered.

 

Leg lifting is about 80% territory marking. If your dog is a home body and never around other males, he may never lift his leg and there is nothing abnormal about that.

 

Also, I agree with @jvdfc that seems like a lot of dog food. Make sure to ask your vet about feeding amounts.

Just going by the back of the bag. He is 7 months and 50 lbs. He is supposed to have between 4 1/2 and 5 1/3 a day.
