Arizona State was undefeated that year and they had to go to the Rose Bowl to play Ohio State. Florida was ranked like 3 or so going into that game. Ohio State upset Arizona State and Florida was the best team in the nation that wasn't in the Big 10 or Pac 10. Florida State lost to Florida so the Gators jumped some people in with losses in the bowls.

 

Yes it was a rematch but it shouldn't of been. This is basically the reason the BCS was invented. In 1997 when Michigan was undefeated and they had to go to the Rose Bowl and Nebraska was undefeated and could not go to the Rose Bowl and they both went undefeated and were co national champs. The Rose Bowl caused a lot of problems before the BCS.

They voted Florida #4 and UM #3. The Arkansas win is the single fact for Florida jumping UM. Call a spade a spade or stop...

I understand what your saying, but at the end of the year the voters more than any other time during the year get to compare the teams more because they got the WHOLE season to go by now. And well Im sure for some of them and me included with the way UF won some of their games, it was hard to look at them as one of the top 2 teams DURING the season because they had so many close games under 7 points and just seem like there was no way they would only lose one game. So of coarse during the season thats not going to get you to jump UM who was winning by double digits even though it was against teams not as good. But now UF goes out and only loses one game in a controversial way on a fumble call, and then goes on to win the SEC championship. When the voters look at it at the end of the season, it would get them to thank well I guess they are alot better than anyone thought they was because what they have accomplished is really impressive no matter how they won the games. So when you compare the two seasons at the end of the year, its very easy to see why the ended up changing and having UF as the #2 over UM...

Your right 33 of the 62 coaches wouldn't have voted them over UM, if USC. There probably would have been some but not 33...But if USC had won, then they probably wouldn't have compared UM and UF as hard, because who is #3 and #4 wouldn't matter as much. But since it was to decide who gets the right to play for the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, they are going to compare the two teams alot more than they would for the #3 and #4 spots. And as I said when you really look and compare the whole season as a whole, its pretty easy to see where when looking at what UF has accomplished now that they are deserving to now be the #2 team in the country...

Well give me a real look at Florida this season then...I know they have 5 wins this year by 7 points or less, but still they only lost one game. The O$U team in 2002 had 6 wins by 7 points or less. And their only loss came on a controversial fumble, that very easily could have been called an imcomplete pass and they would be undefeated right now. I know I am someone who never considered UF the #2 team in the country until now, but when you do look at it. No matter how ugly it was they still only loss one game with the toughest schedule in the nation, and they won their conference championship unlike UM. So if you do look at it, even if its not to pretty they have done what they had to do and accomplished more than UM, and should be in that title game...

When you get to that point, you say the Auburn loss is equal to the UM loss to OSU. I was fine with it yesterday, but the way the vote went down is a sham. That's where I stand...

It doesn't matter what changed the vote. And you don't know either unless you have chatted with all the pollsters today...Some could have weighed the Ark. game with everything else Florida did all year (beating #8 on a neutral field will get you some points!) Some may have based it on USC...nobody will ever know how many did each of those...What is important is that for WHATEVER reason, more people thought Florida deserved the nod over UM, and it's really just that simple...and ALL the polls arrived at the same conclusion.

I took UM to the Rose Bowl last night. I was fine with it then, and I'm fine with it now. If the drastic change in the vote is fine with you, so be it. My only question is why did Florida deserve it today over the minute UM lost to OSU. Seems simple...

I'm not sure what you are wanting people to say. It's a flawed system... that's been understood for awhile now.
